So, I had a rank of 9.8k in jee advanced and had major 2 options: either a decent branch in mid IITs or a lower branch in top IITs. I didn't have quite interested in any field, and had the mindset of pursuing some skill on my own(coding , video editing for example) and so I needed a branch that does not have much of load of its own. Also, IIT Roorkee's coding culture is consider to be the best amongst all IIT's.
The course is quite chill to be honest. You just need to study the ppts provided by the prof a few weeks before the semesters and you can easily score good. Though the course has limited opportunities in the core sector, you always can prepare for PSU's like ONGC in case you are interested. I know a lot of seniors from Geophysical technology who get placed in IT sector , consultants, product manager, etc. Since you get a lot of free time in this course, you will have to choose wisely how to spend it. Try to balance fun and work. There are no weekly tests taken in this course Just the semester exams. Mid semester is after 2 months of starting the semester, and end semester is around 4-5 months of the semester. Exams are pretty easy as I said. Talking about faculty, there are some profs(not gonna name) who are lazy enough to not take lectures as pee Schedule. Also some profs actually need to go abroad during the semester due to some research work and so can't take lectures.
As I mentioned, I will be opting for placement in tech side and it's going to be Data Science most probably. Talking about overall placement highest package was 2cr international, some guy from cse. Avg package for GPT branch was around 18lpa and highest was 40lpa. FAANG companies recruit. There are also quant companies recruiting. Since the last year's, the number of startups recruiting has increased, maybe due to recession. Core companies do visit, but pick only a handful. For example in GPT, only 4 students were recruited on core sector, whereas around 15 were in tech or product side.
1. Social life is good , and I mean it. You will easily make friends, and all are helpful,. Seniors are approachable and helpful. You will also be provided a mentor of your branch who will be of the final year, he/she will be responsible for guiding you and introducing you to the college life and also help in academics. 2. There are clubs for almost every hobby /skill. You need to give tests and interview for getting into any tech club. 3. Talking about infrastructure, you will get to play almost any sport in IIT Roorkee, there are grounds , sports complex and also 2 Badminton courts in every hostel. 4. In case , you don't get selected for any club, there's no need to worry, each club hosts different open to all competitions with prize money in which you can participate. 5. Hostels of the first year kind of Suck. We used to live 3 in one room, but conditions become better 2nd year onwards. Mess food is okay but kind of repetitive. Day and night canteens are also available
Companies do come here for placements and many students get placed as well but there's always the student factor as not everyone deserves to be placed either. My seniors are getting placed at 8.7 to 40 lpa specially the mba courses are getting placed higher.
the placement support at DBS has been one of the best strongest aspects of my experience. the university regularly organized internship and live project, mock interview, aptitude training and industry interaction to prepare students for placements.
To sit for placements, the students have to be in 3 semester. Few famous companies that came in for placements are HCL, Tech Mahindra, ICICI, ANZ, Infosys, Wipro, etc. The highest package this year went up to 40 LPA and average package was 8.7 LPA. Around 95% of students got placed this year. For me I want to work in corporate for a few years then I want to pursue my PHD side by side.
College have decent placement percentage which is ofcourse higher than other local colleges near by.Our college have avg package around 6LPA and every year big companies like TCS visit our college for recruitment offering good packages.
I am preparing for other services currently but yes the college do provide good opportunities for future, even the college has good record in placement for AME, BHM, BCA, PHARMACY courses. Majority of students apply for further studies in our course.
Agriculture department is all about Internships and we have good collaborations with various institutions and training labs for polishing the hands on practical. The college provide good opportunities of works. The departments like AME, BCA, IT, BHM has good placement record.
I would say the college really provides wide opportunities to the specialization courses, as I preferred to go for further studies, but my batchmates got placed in good environmental industries because of the Degree.
Placements are very good. Placement criteria is based on cgpa and student behaviour. Good cgpa and no back allowed you to sit in placement. Highest package is 1.24 cr and average package is 4lpa. About 60% students get placed per year from campus. Tech Mahindra, TCS, wipro, Deloitte HCL etc companies visited fir placement.
I choose this course mainly because I wanted to pursue marketing for quite some time as I am extremely extroverted person. The faculty here are pretty well qualified atleast the ones who have taught me they really take interest in making everyone interact and share opinions
There are good placement and job opportunities are there in off campus placement because there are many sites whivh provide job and internships like inteshala and there are many other platforms to find the job and internships
