Honest Review of Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh
Likes
- College is very good. Quality of life is very nice.
- Internships are good. Placements are very nice.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is little old. Hostels are less and students are more.
- College starts at 8am while the norm is for it to start at 9am.
Remarks :
Had a senior friend in this college who recommended me. Also, the location in Chandigarh is optimal, and college life is good. College infrastructure in general is fine. The hostels are a bit old construction. Other than that college is overall very good.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I had an interest in this course since I loved tinkering with computers since childhood. Almost all faculty are PhD Scholars. Exams are twice a semester (one semester is 3.5 months). There are quizzes in between. Exams are moderate in difficulty. The cost to study is manageable. A scholarship based on family income is granted.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships are offered in the third year. The internships happen in the 6th semester. A lot of companies come for an internship cycle. Students also get offered PPO if they are good enough. Projects are needed and knowledge of your field is also required to crack internships.
Placement Experience :
We need to have a minimum of 7.5 CGPA to be eligible for placements. Hundreds of companies visit the campus for placement purposes. A lot of students get placed with high packages. In the years 2023-24 60% of the students got placed (this is due to the recession in the tech industry happening globally). The highest CTC offered was 56 lpa.
Campus Life :
There is an annual fest called PECFEST. It is one of the biggest festivals in north India and it is the biggest fest in Chandigarh. It is conducted in November. The library has a plethora of books available for reading and borrowing. Classrooms are equipped with the latest technologies. We have a sports meet for sports enthusiasts. There are several clubs run by students of the college.
Hostel Facilities :
Food quality is good. The mess also provides snacks everyday. Mess has special menu for occasions. Hostel costs 80000 per year, and mess costs 3000 per month. PG is available very nearby in Nayagaon area. PG is also very affordable and is a good option for those who do not want to stay in hostel.

College offers on campus placements opportunities in the 4th year of the course . Many reputed companies like Apple , Amazon , PhonePe , Maruti Suzuki etc visits campus for rhe placements. Highest and average package is around 60 lakhs and 17 lakhs respectively . 90 % students got placed this year

Placement and job opportunity is good because in civil engineering placement are good this college is better than many government college if no campus placement is offered than I prep for government exam connected to engineering like ies and many other best engineering government job

I don't have much idea about eligibility criteria because I have been in the clg 3 months. Company like Jp Morgan godrej britannia etc are the tip recruiters in our branch. This semester My H and Q company have given intern to many students. I am planning for government jobs. 40% of students are places in my branch.

Placemnts are better than other nits like hamirpur nit Jalandhar and nit kurukshetra also better than some private college like thapar its avg is like 13 lakh and median is 12 lakh for electrcal its same median avg is 14.5 and cse avg goes 20+ and ai avg 19 lakhs

placements are good and you can get the official data on college websity of my branch 94 placed out of 127 and avg package is 13.1 and median is 12 lpa but cse avg this year goes 20 + lpa but lower branch like civil has some low placemnt stats as many students go for foriegn ms or higher studies or gate psu from civil

Placements are average on comparison with other private colleges around here Highest package this year - 11.3Lpa The teachers help very much in placements and internship . The TPC cell of the college is dead for their work

The placement rate of chitkara is great from the starting of third year you can apply for placements . Various companies like Wipro,hero, Tata motors, Reliance, Lenovo visits for placements. The average package is around 8 lpa and heights is 45 lpa, from the college there are 100% placement rate.

There is minimum 4 months of internship we have to do in 6th semester and on campus opportunities is very good. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Atlassian, BMW, jp Morgan, AMEX came with highest package of 86 LPA

Course Curriculum Overview :
I was never interested in this course but due to family stress I was forced to do this and later on it was much intrested than any other subject. The beginning and end of universe is all what engineering teaches us and if somebody will find it not interesting then he should cut himself from this world.

The placement is quite very low for my department and my course. University is practicing for encouraging more companies for our course placement. It is improving but now the placement is low for my course . Like from last year only 5 were placed out of 60.
