- The infrastructure of the college is excellent, with all the necessary facilities available. Clubs and societies thrive here, just like in top Indian colleges. Students from all over the country come here, creating an excellent environment and exposure. You get to meet many people and develop your social and communication skills. The teachers are well-behaved and don’t force you to study excessively or always follow their instructions. The hostels are very well built, with bathrooms and corridors cleaned twice daily. The mess food is also pretty good. It's not like how the movies portray it; the food is well-cooked. Some students find it less spicy or sweet, likely because most chefs are Punjabis who use fewer spices than those from Eastern states or Delhi.
- This college doesn’t try to fool you with top packages and buzzwords. When I came here, the teachers told everyone from the first day that they would give us opportunities, and we just have to grab them with our skills. Everyone will be placed according to the skills they have learned during the course.
- The finances are also sorted for me. I belong to a low-income family from Bihar and benefit from the Bihar Student Credit Card loan scheme, which pays my college fees. Almost every time, the government body or BSCC sends the payment after the due date, and while other students would be fined a hefty late fee, it is waived for educational loan beneficiaries. I find this very kind and generous towards the students.
Dislikes
- In my first year, I had very good teachers, with only 2-3 exceptions. However, my friends in other branches and sections had worse teachers who just came to class, read the printed notes or slides, and passed the period. Now, this semester, it’s reversed: I got the worst teachers, and they got much better ones. It depends on your luck which kind of teacher you will get. The labs are a waste of time; you will learn absolutely nothing in any subject lab, whether it's Physics, Chemistry, EGD, OOPS, or DSA. Even though all the necessary equipment is available in every lab, they are not effective for learning.
- The biggest con, according to me, is the competition among the students during placements. For my batch, 2023-27, there are 7 sections of CSE, 4 of IT, 3 of ECE, 3-4 specialization branches, and 2 mechanical sections, with each class having 65 students. This is a huge number, and the competition is intense. The placements of this college are under Chandigarh University, so students from both institutions compete together, making the number about 4000-5000 per year. To even get a 10-15 LPA job, you have to be in the top 5% of your class. This requires continuously gaining skills, working on your communication skills, social interactions, and behavior to stand out among others.
- I would rate the college about 3.7 out 5 overall, the environment,exposure and oppportunnities and flexibility the college provides would be 4.5 out of 5, and the most important the placements be 3.6 out of 5.
Remarks :
I joined this college simply because of the placement opportunities and the exposure here, which are way better than other private colleges in India at this fee structure. My sister graduated in 2020 with a perfect package and explained how the college provided him with training and more chances to sit in placements than his friends in other colleges. There are no GDs, interviews, or tests for admission. You can get admitted via: PTU counselling requires an 82-87% percentile in JEE Mains/75% in 12th boards. Direct admission and seat booking: book your seat with a nominal payment of Rs. 11,000, then pay the remaining semester 1 fee within one or two months. If you take admission via counselling, your fees will be 1/3 of the direct admission fee, A loophole to get the CSE branch without meeting the cutoff is to book your seat in February or March, before board results are announced, and pay the remaining fees in May. Alternatively, spend the entire semester 1 fee in February.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Regarding the faculty, only 20-30% of the teachers genuinely teach, while the rest complete the syllabus on time since exams follow the academic calendar. Two midsems and one end sem are conducted, with midsem averages out of 24 added to the 60 marks of the end sem exam. In my 1st year, most teachers were good, with only one or two focused solely on completing the syllabus. However, in the 3rd semester, this has reversed: only 2-3 teachers are genuinely interested in teaching, while others just show up and do their own thing without engaging students. Many are not even qualified. For example, my Humanities teacher also teaches OOPS and OOPS Lab and used to teach Chemistry in the 1st year. She reads from slides or printed notes without effectively teaching any of these subjects. Not any particular fee hike, Scholarships like Pragati and SC/ST national scholarships are there for students.
Internships Opportunities :
As I am a 1st year student, I didn't apply for internships yet. I joined this college to live my life the best gain new skills and improve my social interactions to the wide exposure the college provides. But I have participated as a campus ambassador at Internshala and it was only possible because of my college experiences. For the internships, I will tell you the truth only 10-20% of students of the total 3000-4000 students get internships on their own, mostly by paying registration fees on their own. I know a lot of friends doing internships like Video editor, Web Dev and UI/UX development even in 1st year and also know a lot of seniors in 3rd year who are struggling to make their resumes with any projects to show of their own.
Placement Experience :
For placements, there is no specific criterion by the college; it depends on the visiting company. However, for good placement opportunities, you need a minimum of 7.5 CGPA and 75-80% in 12th boards, varying by company. Maintaining a CGPA above 8 is recommended. Involvement in student activities, MUN, etc., will also make you stand out. There are ample opportunities for students to get placed. Top companies like Netflix, Walmart, Microsoft, and Amazon visit the campus every year, along with mass recruiters like Capgemini, Cognizant, and TCS. A major con is that top companies hire only about 5% of the students, roughly 30-50 out of 3000-4000. Most students are placed in mass recruitment companies. I chose this college because many growing startup companies visit the campus in search of hardworking and talented students, offering decent packages of 15-25 LPA.
Campus Life :
The infrastructure of the college is outstanding, offering all the necessary facilities students could ask for. Everything is designed to enhance the learning experience, from state-of-the-art labs to well-stocked libraries and modern classrooms. Clubs and societies thrive here, providing countless opportunities for extracurricular engagement, just like at the top Indian colleges. The student community is incredibly diverse, with students from all over the country, creating a vibrant environment. This diversity helps you meet new people, learn about various cultures, and build lifelong friendships, improving your social and communication skills. The faculty are supportive and well-behaved, fostering a positive atmosphere. They don’t force you to study excessively or blindly follow instructions, instead guiding you to explore your interests and learn at your own pace. This college offers a perfect blend of excellent infrastructure, vibrant student life, and supportive faculty.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. You may share a room with a freshman or a final-year student. Rooms come in AC and non-AC categories with 4/3/2/1 seater, and prices vary accordingly.The hostel is cleaned daily, and the bathrooms are cleaned twice a day. Proper hygiene is maintained everywhere. The infrastructure is well-built with good ventilation and greenery. Hostel wardens are strict but wellbehaved, unlike in movies. Students enjoy time in the hostels. The girls' hostel is very strict about safety and privacy,with fixed times for both boys and girls to go outside the campus. Violations can lead to parental notification or removal from the hostelThe mess food is good but not like home-cooked meals. It's tasty and nutritious enough balanced diet. The chefs are experienced and maintain proper hygiene. However, the cooking style, with fewer spices, may not suit all students. Despite this, the variety and quality of food cater to different preferences.

To apply for placements in LPU you need to have 6+cgpa mostly. there no company as i know that went without recruiting any student. the highest was on campus was 51.03lakhs Microsoft and average was 5-6 lakhs. the students around 85 %will be placed .my plan was to do a decent job in any MNC.
Life at cgc landran.
Placement Experience :
Placement at CGC landran is decent around 70 to 80% student got placed based on your skills. The eligibility criteria usually includes minimum 60% marks with no active backlogs. Top recruiter companies includes TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini. The average package is around 3-4 lpa while highest package can go up to 10 to 12 lpa. Multiple offers are made every year across different domain.

I haven't done any intenship yet but Yes, internships are available at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali. Companies include TCS, Infosys, startups. Roles: Web Dev, QA, Data Analyst. Stipend ?5k–15k. Tasks include coding, testing, and project work.

The eligibility for placement is no backlog or reappear and CGPA IS above is 6 and fresher they get placement for 6thsem based on the skills and knowledge of the student and they provide a salary of 3 to 12 lakhs per/ year and recently SPICEJET company give around 8 lakhs CTC for 5 to 8 students and my plans after competing the degree is to do higher education in design modeling.

As the course is designed for pharmaceutical industry so the companies like mankind, sunpharma, macloid, overseas etc. Are top recruiters. The average package is 3-3.5 lakh per annum and highest goes upto 4lpa. As after masters most of the students goes for higher studies and teaching so the placement rate is low.

Since the college comes under an institution it opens the gate for various company and even those which just require a graduation degree instead of a specific field. Cadila Lupin etc visits every year. Good 60 to 70 students gets placed.

The placement are good but there are a lot of criterias for the placement and the college faculties force us to take the placement in the development roles to show that the college has 100% placement.There are less companies for the consultancy or data based jobs. The college doesn't provide any on campus intership. They provide intership in the college Startups and they pay very very less and they exploit the interns as lot. I got only 500 rupees for doing 1 month internship and working 6 hours a week.
