Nitte University Admission Dates 2026

Nitte University admission dates depend on the course and the entrance test linked to it. MBBS and BDS admission is through NEET UG and Karnataka state counselling. B.Tech admission uses KCET and JEE Main scores. MBA admission accepts CAT, MAT, and CMAT. For medical and dental seats, Karnataka NEET-based counselling is active for management quota rounds in September 2026.

Nitte University Courses and Fees

Nitte University offers more than 200 programmes in medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, management, architecture, allied health sciences, and liberal arts. Fees change by course and by seat type, especially for NMC/DCI-regulated courses where government quota and management quota fees are different.

The MBBS fee shown above is the management quota total under Karnataka’s regulated private medical college fee system. Government quota MBBS fees are much lower. B.Tech fees also differ by branch and campus, and NMIT Bengaluru may have a different fee from NMAMIT Karkala for the same branch. Students should check the quota-wise fee breakup with the relevant constituent college.

Nitte University Admission Process

Nitte University admission is handled through different routes because several courses are regulated by outside bodies. MBBS and BDS seats are divided between government quota seats, allotted by KEA Karnataka through NEET UG merit, and management quota seats, filled directly by the university using NEET UG scores and Nitte’s criteria. For B.Tech, Karnataka students can apply through KCET, while students from outside Karnataka can use JEE Main or the management quota route.

1. Choose the course and check the required entrance exam for that programme.
2. Appear for NEET UG, KCET, JEE Main, CAT, MAT, CMAT, GATE, NEET PG, NEET MDS, NATA, JEE Main Paper 2, CUET UG, or the Nitte entrance route, as applicable.
3. Apply through KEA, CCMT, or Nitte direct admission based on the course and seat type.
4. Complete counselling, GD-PI, document verification, or direct selection steps wherever required.
5. Pay the course fee under the allotted quota and report to the respective constituent college.

MBBS and BDS Admission

For MBBS, students need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, at least 50% aggregate for General category, 40% aggregate for SC/ST/OBC-NC, and a valid NEET UG score. Selection is done through two routes:

• Government quota seats: KEA counselling allots these seats based on NEET UG rank and Karnataka domicile. The state government regulates the fee.
• Management quota seats: Students apply directly to Nitte/KSHEMA with a valid NEET UG score. The full management quota MBBS fee for 5.5 years is INR 235.19 Lakhs.

B.Tech Admission at NMAMIT and NMIT

For B.Tech, students must have 10+2 with PCM and at least 45% aggregate. Karnataka-domicile students use KCET for admission. Non-Karnataka applicants can apply with JEE Main scores or through the Nitte management quota route. Management quota seats are open to students with lower ranks or those applying from outside Karnataka.

MBA Admission

MBA applicants need a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate. The selection process uses CAT, MAT, or CMAT scores, followed by group discussion and personal interview at the NITTE School of Management, Mangaluru. Work experience helps but is not compulsory.

MD/MS/MDS Admission

For postgraduate medical and dental courses, MD/MS admission is through NEET PG, and MDS admission is through NEET MDS. Government quota seats are handled by Karnataka KEA PG counselling, while management quota seats follow the Nitte-direct route.

Nitte University Cutoffs

Nitte University cutoff levels differ by course, quota, campus, and entrance exam. MBBS and BDS admission depends on NEET UG rank, while B.Tech admission is linked to KCET, JEE Main, or management quota admission.

Nitte University Placements

Engineering placement activity at Nitte is led mainly by NMAMIT in Karkala and NMIT in Bengaluru. In 2024-25, NMAMIT recorded a highest package of INR 59 LPA, with 925 offers made by 288 companies. The average engineering package at NMAMIT is in the INR 5 to 8 LPA range, while strong CSE students receive higher offers from product companies.

Recruiters visiting NMAMIT and NMIT include TCS, Samsung, Synopsys, VMware, Schneider Electric, Microsoft, Amazon, Nokia, IBM, and Walmart Labs. NMIT Bengaluru has the benefit of being close to the North Bengaluru IT corridor, giving it stronger access to IT and product companies than the Karkala campus. MBA students from NITTE School of Management are placed in BFSI, FMCG, consulting, and logistics companies across Karnataka and Goa.

Medical and dental students commonly move into postgraduate study through NEET PG or NEET MDS, government hospital postings, private practice, or hospital group jobs. KSHEMA’s attached 1,010-bed hospital gives MBBS students clinical training through department rotations from the third year onward.

Nitte University Rankings

Nitte University performs strongly in NIRF 2025, especially in Dental Sciences, where ABSMIDS is ranked 6th in India. The university’s 80th Overall rank in NIRF 2025 places it among the better-ranked private deemed universities in the country.

ABSMIDS’ NIRF Dental rank of 6 puts it among India’s leading dental colleges and ahead of many private dental institutions, IDS institutions, and centrally funded colleges. The NAAC A+ grade applies to the university as a whole. Its major constituent colleges also hold approvals from their statutory bodies, including NMC, DCI, PCI, and AICTE.

Nitte University Campus and Infrastructure

Nitte University has three main campuses. The Deralakatte campus in Mangaluru functions as the health sciences centre and includes KS Hegde Medical Academy with its 1,010-bed teaching hospital, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, NGSMIPS, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, and Nitte College of Physiotherapy. Academic and clinical buildings on this campus cover more than 8 lakh square feet of built-up space.

The Nitte campus at Karkala in Udupi District is 45 km from Mangaluru and houses NMAMIT, along with architecture and arts institutions. NMAMIT has a placement cell, central computing labs, sports grounds, and a library with more than 1.5 lakh volumes. The Bengaluru campus in Yelahanka is home to NMIT and is close to the North Bengaluru IT corridor.

Hostels are available at all major campuses. Boys hostel fees range from INR 1.22 to 2.72 Lakhs per annum, while girls hostel fees range from INR 1.09 to 2.72 Lakhs per annum, depending on campus and room type. On the Deralakatte medical campus, KSHEMA’s teaching hospital gives students hands-on clinical exposure during MBBS training.

Nitte University Scholarships

Nitte University supports eligible students through government and institution-backed scholarships. Its scholarship office helps students process NSP applications, Karnataka state scholarship claims, and Nitte Trust merit awards.

Students in MBBS and BDS management quota seats who show financial need can apply for internal Nitte Education Trust scholarships. These scholarships provide partial fee help, depending on Trust-level approval and fund availability. SBI and Canara Bank education loan support is also facilitated for MBBS and engineering students at competitive interest rates.

Nitte University vs Manipal Academy (MAHE) vs Yenepoya University

Students looking at medical, dental, engineering, or pharmacy courses in coastal Karnataka often compare Nitte University with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Yenepoya University. All three are private deemed universities in the region and offer MBBS, BDS, B.Tech, and allied health programmes.

MAHE has a clear overall ranking lead with NIRF #7 compared with Nitte’s #80. For BDS aspirants, however, Nitte has a strong point in ABSMIDS, which is ranked NIRF #6 in Dental and is ahead of Manipal College of Dental Sciences in that category. Yenepoya has a more focused health sciences profile and a smaller programme range, attracting students who want a Mangaluru-city setting. The three universities draw many applicants from Karnataka, Goa, and south India for health sciences and coastal Karnataka campuses.
