Central University of Kerala Admission Process
CUET merit determines admission to CUK's undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The university does not hold another entrance test for these two levels. Doctoral applicants follow a separate process involving the CUK entrance test and an interview, subject to the exemptions stated below.
UG Admission Process
Applicants to BCA (Hons), BCom (Hons), BSc (Hons), BA and integrated B.Ed courses need a valid CUET UG score in the required subject domain. There is no group discussion or personal interview for selection.
- Eligibility: Applicants must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board with the relevant subjects and at least 50 percent. The minimum is 45 percent for SC, ST and PwD applicants.
- Selection: CUK prepares the merit list from CUET UG results. Selected students then complete counselling, document checks and fee payment.
PG Admission Process
For MBA, MA, MSc, MCom, LLM, MPH, MEd and MSW, selection depends fully on the relevant CUET PG paper. MBA cutoffs generally fall in higher percentile bands because seats are limited and students from across India compete for admission.
- Eligibility: A relevant bachelor's degree with at least 55 percent is required. SC, ST and PwD applicants need 50 percent.
- Selection process: Students take CUET PG, submit the CUK online form and appear in the programme-specific merit list. Counselling and admission confirmation follow.
- MBA-specific note: CUK accepts only CUET PG for MBA admission. CAT and other management test scores are not valid.
PhD Admission Process
A postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 percent is necessary for PhD admission. Applicants holding NET or JRF may receive an exemption from the university's written entrance test. Other applicants must pass that test and attend a departmental interview.
- Eligibility: A postgraduate degree with 55 percent, or 50 percent for SC, ST and PwD applicants, is required along with NET, JRF or the CUK entrance test.
- Selection: The process includes a written test and departmental interview. Selected disciplines also require a research proposal presentation.
LLM Admission Process
CUK's Law Campus in Thiruvalla offers the one-year LLM. Applicants must have completed either a three-year LLB or a five-year integrated LLB at a recognised institution. Selection uses the CUET PG law-domain score, and the total programme fee is INR 62,000.
Central University of Kerala Placements
CUK's placement cell helps eligible postgraduate students prepare for careers and take part in campus recruitment. MBA, MCom, MSc Computer Science and selected MA programmes account for much of this activity. NIRF 2024 records that 156 postgraduate students obtained placements during the 2023 season.
For that season, the highest offer was INR 4.78 LPA and the median salary was INR 3.26 LPA. Recruiters confirmed for CUK include TCS, Infosys, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and public sector institutions. Many graduates choose government examinations, advanced study or research fellowships such as JRF and SRF instead of campus jobs.
| Metric | 2023 Season (NIRF 2024 Data) |
|---|---|
| PG students placed | 156 |
| Highest package | INR 4.78 LPA |
| Median package | INR 3.26 LPA |
| Confirmed recruiters | TCS, Infosys, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and public sector institutions |
MBA and MCom graduates generally enter banking, financial services and operations positions. Students from MSc Genomics, Environmental Science, and Molecular Biology often move into research fellowships or government science roles.
