IIM Kozhikode (IIMK) is a public Institute of National Importance set up by the Government of India in 1996. It is an autonomous institute under the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017. It was the first IIM in Kerala and is counted among India’s top business schools.

In NIRF Management 2025, IIM Kozhikode secured rank #3 in India with a score of 79.85. This places it with IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore in the top three management institutes in the country.

The main campus is at Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode, Kerala. It spreads across a 100-acre hilltop site and includes academic blocks, hostels, the IIMK Library, and other student facilities. A 600-seat auditorium is one of the major campus facilities.

IIM Kozhikode offers these programmes:

• PGPM (MBA): 3 tracks, General Management, PGP-Finance, and PGP-Liberal Studies and Management. Duration: 2 years. Fee: INR 24.17 Lakhs with hostel included.
• PGPBL (Post Graduate Programme in Business Leadership): 1-year full-time residential MBA for professionals with work experience. Fee: INR 25.17 Lakhs.
• EPGP (Executive Post Graduate Programme): 1-year executive MBA for working professionals with 5+ years of experience. Fee: INR 16.87 Lakhs.
• BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies): 4-year undergraduate management degree with 120 seats. Fee: INR 28.53 Lakhs.
• PhD in Management: Research programme in Finance, Marketing, Operations, OB, HR, IT, and Strategy. Fee: INR 12.5 Lakhs, with fellowships usually available.
• Management Development Programmes (MDPs): Short executive education programmes. Fees start at INR 50,000 and go up to INR 75,000.

Hostel accommodation is part of the PGPM programme fee. PhD students usually receive research fellowships, which reduce the actual amount they need to pay.

IIM Kozhikode 2025 placements ended with 100% placement for the PGPM batch. The mean CTC was INR 28.18 LPA, and the highest offer was INR 81 LPA.

IIM Kozhikode Admission Dates 2027

PGPM admission for the 2027-29 batch is linked to CAT 2026. The BMS 2026 selection process is also active, with interviews in progress and the next application cycle expected in January 2027.

IIM Kozhikode Courses and Fees

IIM Kozhikode offers management programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, executive, doctoral, diploma, and short-term executive education levels. The fee starts from INR 50,000 for short MDPs and goes up to INR 28.53 Lakhs for the 4-year BMS. Hostel charges are included in the PGPM, PGP-Finance, PGP-LSM, and PGPBL fees.

The PGPM, PGP-Finance, and PGP-Liberal Studies and Management tracks have the same fee of INR 24.17 Lakhs. No extra fee is charged for choosing any one of these tracks. For senior professionals, EPGP is the lowest-priced degree-level option at INR 16.87 Lakhs. PhD students usually get monthly research fellowships, so their personal spending can be much lower than the listed fee.

IIM Kozhikode Admission Process

IIM Kozhikode admits students through merit-based selection. It does not offer management quota, direct admission, or paid seats. Seats in PGP, PGP-Finance, and PGP-LSM follow Government of India reservation rules.

PGPM Admission Process

PGPM admission is completed in three stages. First, applicants must clear the CAT eligibility check. Next, IIM Kozhikode uses the Aggregate Index Score, called AIS, to decide who gets WAT-PI calls. In the final stage, shortlisted students attend the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview in a half-day session at one of these 6 cities: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

• General category applicants must have at least 85 percentile overall in CAT and 75 percentile in each section. A zero scaled score in any CAT section makes the applicant ineligible.
• AIS is calculated using CAT score (50%), Class XII marks (20%), Class X marks (15%), gender and academic diversity (up to 10%), and work experience (5%).
• Final merit uses CAT score 35%, PI 35%, WAT 20%, and Resume Score 10%. CA, CMA, CS, and CFA holders get the maximum Resume Score points.
• The highest work experience score is given for 35 to 36 months. Applicants with more than 60 months of work experience get zero for this part.
• Non-engineering graduates receive 5 diversity points. Female and transgender applicants receive 10 diversity points.
• Students who accept an admission offer must pay a non-refundable token amount of INR 1,00,000. This is adjusted against the total fee.

BMS Admission Process

BMS admission is open to Class 12 and Diploma students from all streams. Selection is through the IIMK BMS Aptitude Test, or BMS AT, which is a computer-based MCQ test. It checks Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability. CAT and CUET are not needed. After BMS AT, shortlisted students appear for a Personal Interview at one of 7 cities. Final admission follows Government of India reservation norms.

EPGP Admission Process

EPGP is meant for mid-career professionals who have at least 5 years of full-time work experience. IIM Kozhikode considers GMAT or CAT scores along with the applicant’s work profile, leadership record, and recommendations. The process includes application review and an interview with the IIMK admissions panel.

IIM Kozhikode Placements

IIM Kozhikode reported 100% placement for the PGPM batch in 2025. The mean CTC was INR 28.18 LPA, while the median CTC stood at INR 27.50 LPA. The highest offer reached INR 81 LPA. Female graduates recorded a mean CTC of INR 31.04 LPA, which was higher than the batch mean. Compared with 2024, the average CTC grew by 12.5%, and the number of recruiting companies rose by 8.3%.

Students received roles in Consulting, Finance, FMCG, IT and Technology, Banking, E-Commerce, and General Management. Through IIMK LIVE, which stands for Learning in Value Creating Enterprises, students also work with SMEs and rural organisations as part of a structured academic immersion.

Major recruiting sectors included Consulting with McKinsey, BCG, Deloitte, and EY; Finance and Banking with Citibank, ICICI, and HDFC; FMCG with HUL, ITC, and Asian Paints; Technology with Google, Amazon, and Microsoft; and E-Commerce with Flipkart and Meesho. IIM Kozhikode also records strong repeat recruiter participation across placement seasons.

IIM Kozhikode Rankings

IIM Kozhikode is placed among India’s leading management institutes. In NIRF 2025, it received its highest-ever Management rank of #3, improving on its earlier positions. The institute has also built international visibility through faculty research and executive education.

IIM Kozhikode takes part in NIRF rankings. It does not formally participate in international MBA ranking systems such as FT Global MBA or QS MBA, so it is not currently listed in FT, QS, or Bloomberg Businessweek MBA rankings.

IIM Kozhikode Campus Life and Infrastructure

IIM Kozhikode is based at Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala. Its 100-acre hilltop campus gives it a different setting from flatland IIM campuses. Academic buildings, student hostels, the library, recreation areas, and other facilities are located inside the campus.

Facilities include a 600-seat auditorium, a central library with print and digital resources, networked classrooms, computer labs, and separate residential blocks for students. Hostel accommodation is included in the fees for PGPM, PGP-Finance, PGP-LSM, and PGPBL. Mess charges are paid separately as per actual use. The campus also has sports facilities, a medical centre, and banking services.

IIM Kozhikode runs IIMK LIVE, or Learning in Value Creating Enterprises. Under this curriculum component, PGPM students work with SMEs, rural enterprises, and NGOs in a structured learning immersion. This gives students community-linked learning experience during the programme.

IIM Kozhikode Scholarships

IIM Kozhikode provides need-based financial assistance for PGP students from economically weaker sections. MBA students do not get merit-based tuition waivers at IIM Kozhikode. PhD scholars usually receive monthly research fellowships, which can reduce the cost across the degree period.

• PGPM students can apply for need-based financial assistance. The institute’s Financial Aid Committee processes applications after admission.
• SC/ST and PwD students may qualify for government fellowship schemes under Ministry of Education norms.
• PhD scholars at IIMK usually receive monthly fellowships as per UGC guidelines applicable to IIMs.
• BMS students may apply for need-cum-merit fellowships. These depend on Class 12 academic performance and family income documents.

IIM Kozhikode vs IIM Lucknow vs IIM Indore

CAT aspirants often compare IIM Kozhikode with IIM Lucknow and IIM Indore because all three are second-generation IIMs and strong choices for top-5 to top-8 business school targets. Their flagship MBA admission is through CAT only. The programme format is broadly similar, but each institute uses different AIS weights and final merit rules.

Among these three institutes, IIM Kozhikode had the highest NIRF Management 2025 rank at #3. IIM Lucknow was ranked #6, and IIM Indore was ranked #8. IIMK also has a lower minimum CAT requirement for General category applicants, with 85 overall percentile compared with 90 at IIML and IIMI. Its PGPM fee is higher, but hostel is included, so the total residential cost becomes comparable when hostel charges are considered. CA, CMA, CS, and CFA holders can also gain from IIMK’s Resume Score component.
