IIM Trichy Admission Dates 2027

CAT 2026 is the main entrance examination for PGPM admissions to the 2027-29 batch. The admit card will be released in November, followed by the examination on 29 November 2026. After the December result, applicants can expect the Joint Admission Process, WAT and personal interview stages in early 2027.

PGPBM, the Executive MBA offered for the Chennai Campus cohort, has a separate schedule and accepts applications on a rolling basis. Applicants should check iimtrichy.ac.in for its current application window. Entrance and selection requirements differ by programme, as listed below.

IIM Trichy Courses and Fees

The institute runs 12 programmes covering full-time management study, executive education, doctoral research and certificate-level learning. PGPM is its main 2-year programme. PGPM-HR is the only IIM MBA built around a dedicated Human Resource Management specialisation. The following fees apply to the 2027-29 batch.

Students in PGPM and PGPM-HR pay the fee over six equal terms of INR 3,54,000. The first-year amount is INR 10,77,000, including the caution deposit and one-time charges, while the second-year amount is INR 10,47,000. PhD scholars receive a monthly stipend, and the programme fee is negligible.

IIM Trichy Admission Process

PGPM and PGPM-HR Admission

IIM Trichy uses the Joint Admission Process (JAP) along with IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur and IIM Ranchi. Once CAT results are released, a candidate submits one JAP application that all four institutes consider at the same time.

• Eligibility check: Applicants need a graduation degree in any subject from a recognised institution with at least 50% aggregate marks. The minimum is 45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
• CAT requirement: General-category applicants need an overall cutoff of 95.25 percentile and at least 75 percentile in each of VARC, DILR and QA.
• Selection stages: Candidates take CAT, submit the JAP form, undergo shortlisting, attend WAT and PI at one of 10 venues, receive a composite score and then compete for the final admission offer.

The institute calculates the final composite score out of 100. CAT contributes 52% and the personal interview contributes 20%. Post-graduation work experience of 24 to 29 months can add up to 10%. Female and transgender applicants receive a 6% gender-diversity bonus. Academic performance and board examination marks account for the remaining weight.

The overall and sectional CAT cutoffs are 95.25 / 75 for General, 89 / 60 for EWS, 88.5 / 60 for NC-OBC, 75 / 45 for SC, 44 / 25 for ST and 30 / 25 for PwD applicants. IIM Trichy has no management quota, and every seat is awarded through merit-based selection.

PGPBM (Executive MBA) Admission

PGPBM is meant for working professionals who have a graduation degree and relevant work experience. The institute first evaluates each applicant's profile and then invites shortlisted candidates for a personal interview. CAT and GMAT scores are accepted, and applications are assessed on a rolling basis.

IIM Trichy Placements

In the 2025 placement season, IIM Trichy reported a highest package of INR 43.94 LPA. The average stood at INR 19.34 LPA for PGPM and INR 17.88 LPA for PGPM-HR. Both programmes recorded a combined median of INR 18.10 LPA. Of the 386 graduating students, 383 secured placements, and 192 companies participated.

Recruitment covers consulting, BFSI, FMCG, IT, analytics and manufacturing. The institute has recruiter links across South India, particularly in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. PGPM-HR students receive opportunities in HR consulting, talent management and people analytics.

IIM Trichy Rankings

IIM Trichy climbed 11 positions in the NIRF Management ranking, moving from #27 in 2024 to #16 in 2025. This was among the largest one-year improvements recorded by an IIM during the 2025 ranking cycle. Its AMBA accreditation also places the institute within a small group of Indian management schools holding international accreditation.

IIM Trichy Campus and Infrastructure

IIM Trichy's fully residential campus covers 175 acres along the Tiruchirappalli-Pudukottai highway in Tamil Nadu. It is 18 km from central Tiruchirappalli and can be reached through the Trichy-Pudukottai State Highway. Living in the hostel is compulsory for PGPM and PGPM-HR students.

More than 666 single-occupancy rooms are spread across eight hostel blocks. This total consists of 328 air-conditioned rooms and another 338 rooms. Men and women have separate accommodation. Students also have access to a library, case-study classrooms, computer laboratories, sports facilities and a health centre within the campus, supporting the institute's residential MBA format.

IIM Trichy vs IIM Raipur vs IIM Ranchi

IIM Trichy, IIM Raipur and IIM Ranchi participate in JAP. Through the same Joint Admission Process, applicants are considered by these three institutes as well as IIM Kashipur. The comparison presents the main factors that can help students assess these JAP institutes.

Within this group of JAP institutes, IIM Trichy has the leading NIRF position, CAT cutoff and average placement package, along with AMBA accreditation.
