West Bengal State University Admission 2024 Updates:

  • Admission to UG courses such as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, and BA-LL.B is based on the candidate’s aggregate marks in 10+2. 
  • The university then releases the final merit list on the basis of marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • 60% of seats are reserved in PG courses such as MA, M.Sc., M.Com, and MRS courses for those who are graduated from WBSU. But these seats will be filled only on merit basis.

WBSU UG Admission 2024

Eligibility Criteria

At the undergraduate level, West Bengal State University offers various courses such as BA, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Ed., BA-LL.B., and B.P.Ed. in full-time mode. Eligibility criteria for these courses are as given below:

  • A candidate is required to pass 10+2 in a relevant subject group from any recognized board in order to be eligible for admission.
  • For B.Ed. and B.P.Ed. courses the candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in order to get admission.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria for all the undergraduate courses are as follows:

  • Admissions to all the courses in WBSU are done on the basis of merit in the last qualifying examination.
  • After the merit list is released, the selected candidates must visit the respective WBSU-affiliated college along with a copy of the filled registration form and required documents.
  • Final admissions are done as per the availability of course-wise seats in the affiliated colleges.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For the Post Graduate courses, the minimum eligibility criteria is that the candidate should be a graduate in a relevant field with at least 50% marks.
  • For M.Sc., M.A., and M.Com, candidates should have done an Under Graduate Hons. with the subject, they want admission in.

Selection Criteria

  • 60% of seats are reserved for WBSU students and the rest 40% of seats are filled on the basis of subject-wise Entrance exams for other university students.
  • Selection in WBSU is strictly done on merit basis on the marks of the last qualifying examination.
  • For the 40% seats, students are admitted on the basis of a Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) Test with 50 questions of 2 marks each.
  • For this entrance test, application forms are filled out online.

WBSU PhD Admission 2024

In WBSU, at the doctorate level, various specializations in different departments are available. For Ph.D., the number of students to be admitted in a subject or an interdisciplinary field is decided by the respective Board of Research Studies. Eligibility Criteria

  • To get admission to the Ph.D. program of WBSU, the candidates need to have secured at least 55% marks Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline with.
  • For reserved category students, they need a minimum of 50% marks.

Selection Criteria

  • Admissions for the Ph.D. program are done on the basis of an entrance examination known as RET for each discipline followed by a viva-voce.
  • Candidates are exempted from the entrance test who have a valid score in NET/SET/ GATE or M.Phil. degree.

  • Pay for UG courses is 400 INR (INR 150 for SC/ST/PWD).
  • Candidates applying for PG Courses have to pay the application fee of INR 400 (INR 200 for SC/ST/PWD)
  • For Ph.D. admission, the candidates have to pay the application fee of INR 1000 (INR 500 for SC/ST/PWD) in cash or through DD drawn in favor of ‘West Bengal State University payable at Barasat, Kolkata.
