Aliah University was established through the Aliah University Act (Act XXVII of 2007) and is a state-run university that comes under the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education of the West Bengal government. Aliah University was passed by the West Bengal Legislative Assembly in 2008. The university has also received approval and certification from AICTE, NAAC, and UGC.
