A most happening University- The West Bengal University of animal and fishery Sciences

What I Liked

There are a number of reasons to like about the college infrastructure, faculty and campus life. All the essential books and research papers that are required for our examination is given in free from our library which is written after 2 months. The faculty members the eand the subject teachers have a good appreciable approach towards the students who are facing problems in their academic subjects and also in their daily livelyhood and personal problems. The faculty members even take extra classes when it is required or demanded by the students. They take necessary approach to make our studies smooth and also easy but keeping in mind of giving all knowledge is and skills in order to complete the syllabus even they go beyond the syllabus for the practical knowledge. A bunch of festivals and camps occur in our campus which gives and added advantage to improve our intellectual and decision making skills by giving leadership in organising those programs by a proper coordination among all.
All the programs and camps are organised by the guidance of the organising head, our faculty members, staff and students including seniors and juniors. The leadership side of students can be enhanced through these kinds of activities. Special arrangements are made by our faculty members for our placement to various well renowned companies so that they can come in our campus and take interview to give a chance to the student for internship of 6 month in their company and to give job in their company. The faculty and the campus are made clean with proper hygiene maintaining staff. Cleanliness drive and plantation program is arranged every year to boost the importance of plantation and natures benefit. There is a healthy campus life as there is a lovely friendship between all the seniors and juniors and the Teachers and the staffs of our university.

What I didn’t like

In our university we get admission through and ICAR, Neet And Higher Secondary examination for B.Tech Dairy Technology, veterinary and fishery Sciences respectively. The ICAR students take admission very late for their counselling process while West Bengal joint entrance examination students come early for that the first semester instead of 6 months become 8 months and the ICAR and decentralized counselling student face difficulties to cope up with the first semester exam due to shortage of time. Every year 44 student take admission in our DT course but the seating capacity is less so the seating capacity can be increased. There are some rooms which are not properly ventilated and a moisty environment prevails in that room. Necessary steps must be taken to increase the ventilation by including electric fans and air conditioners. Smart board and projectors facility is lacking in this generation of 5G. As it helps the learners to see and visualise that topics which are being discussed.
B.Tech Dairy Technology (D.T.) is a course that includes practical knowledge and skill with theoretical knowledge. So it's better to give a more focus on practical knowledge of us students. But our circulum is missing that. A more interactive and problem solving attitude of the faculty members can enhance the students problem like in our external examination many questions come from our outside syllabus which is relevant to our previous fifth deans committee syllabus which creates our problem to answer those questions. Our fishery campus is located at chakgaria, our veterinary campus is located at Belgachia and Mohanpur and our dairy campus is located at Mohanpur. For admission purpose and Controller of Examination is located in Belgachia so it create a problem of communicating with all these three locations. Since during our admission and during our completion we have to collect all our certificate and necessary papers from this 33 location Which creates a problem of communicating.

Placement Experience:

There is a very good placement opportunities and job on opportunities are available in our university. Our faculty members and our ex students who are our seniors make necessary arrangements for our job in one of and all of the renowned companies in the world. Amul,Mother Dairy, Vidya, Mimul and Bhagirathi cooperative, Metro dairy and Itc and also other multinational companies take the students. Many students apply for further studies that is Mtech and PHD, MBA and job options are also available after btech. Every year almost 80% of the students are being placed to the companies though it very each year.

Internships Opportunities:

I have not applied for any internship because internship programs are being organised after our completion of our 6th semester examination. Companies come to our faculty for taking admission to the internship program in their company and student sit in that interview. Till now I haven't completed my 6th semester examination so I cannot sit in that internship interview but I will sit after completion of my 6th semester exam. It depends upon companies to companies whether they will give a stipend to the students but many companies give stipend which ranges from 5000 to 20,000 including the residential charges. Amul, Mother Dairy, Metro Dairy, Arun dairy, Kwallity Walls, Bhagirathi cooperative and vamul cooperative, ITC etc companies and cooperatives come to our university interchangeabeli and take interview. The rules that are offered depends upon our teachers and the company head mainly all kinds of exposure are given to the students which is necessary in their future corporate life.

I like faculty and library very much. Thesis will be completed on time
I like campus life also where you can enjoy all festivals and programs

Placement Experience:

Placements and on campus job interviews will be conducted after UG level students but for pg and PhD students you have to search for job. There were many opportunities in public and private sectors. Jobs like FEO, AFO, BDO, FSO etc.. in private sectors you can be placed as sales manager, marketing manager, or quality inspector in processing sector etc .

Grow Fish and Grow with Fish

What I Liked

I like the whole campus Life which I really enjoy in this faculty.
I like the teaching methods of my respected professors .

What I didn’t like

The drinking water supply is little bit problematic.
I think all the projectors and air conditioners should be proper in every classrooms.

Placement Experience:

For a good place minimum eligibility criteria is - BFSc graduate . Nexgen ,Godrej etc companies are offer posts for quality checking of fish feeds . Highest package 1lakh Lowest package 40000 Recruitment numbers -10/12 stdents per year. After My graduation I will go for Master's and then go for phD degree.

Internships Opportunities:

There are many internship and projects are available for masters degree and phd degree students in our faculty but not for the UG students . ICAR giving so many projects on fish feeds , fish diseases ,and others .

Fisheries,The new opportunities.

What I Liked

Campus Life is good here , You will be making some very good relations with all the members in this faculty.
The education system is good including the faculty.

What I didn’t like

The extra lands of the campus is highly bushy
The ponds of the campus are not cleaned so that general aquaculture can't be done!

Placement Experience:

Before lockdown, there was a huge market of placements used to be done in this college but after lockdown, it reduced a little. There are some government jobs as well but if you want a job you will get one for sure in different companies.

Internships Opportunities:

No, I haven't done any internship but in. Fourth year there are some courses like experience work You will be provided some money, you need to do business with value-added products or aquaculture & the profit will be yours.

Our college is the best govt. college in the Field of Fisheries

What I didn’t like

Placement cell should enhance itself. More students should have get chance to get recruitment

Placement Experience:

Placements are happened here in the end of the academic year. Every year companies like godrej-agro, IBM etc come here to recruit our students. Also we have the facility to appear for the FEO (fishery extension officer, grade-B) walk-in interview only. Highest salary package is recorded 80lpa and avg 6-8 lpa salary is offered by the recruiters.

Internships Opportunities:

I haven’t applied for this till now because internships are mainly available for the Masters' students. Govt projects offer 40-50k/month salary for internships and fellowships on average for the MFSc scholars.

Fishery sciences studies in West Bengal

Placement Experience:

No campus placements, you have to make your own arrangements. Company visit is very uncertain nearly nil. You've to directly contact with the companies, you can expect 22 to 27 k after graduation. Students are not unemployed actually they get admitted in higher studies.

Internships Opportunities:

Actually internship opportunities are provided by central government institutions, seats are very very limited like 2-3 per year in Bengal ,in other state you've to search , in CIFRI project they provide 25k
