Kautilya School of Public Policy introduced India's first MPP programme outside Central government institutes. It draws working professionals and students preparing for careers in policy and governance. The BBA Entrepreneurship option costs more because its curriculum includes intensive mentoring and links with business incubation, which supports new ventures.
GITAM Hyderabad Admission Process
The entrance route depends on the degree a student chooses. GAT, or the GITAM Admission Test, provides a university-specific selection route, while eligible applicants can also use accepted national and state examination scores. For engineering, Telangana candidates may apply through TS EAPCET.
- Check the required qualifications and minimum marks for the chosen course.
- Select an accepted entrance route and take the relevant test, unless an existing valid score meets the admission requirement.
- Register at GITAM's application portal and choose the campus and programme.
- Fill in personal details, upload the required documents, and complete the application fee payment. Keep a copy of the completed application.
- Complete the selection stages for the programme. Shortlisted MBA applicants must attend a group discussion and personal interview.
B.Tech Entry Routes and Eligibility
Applicants need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, commonly called PCM. The minimum aggregate is 50%, reduced to 45% for SC/ST applicants. Selection uses GAT, JEE Main, or TS EAPCET performance.
- GAT route: The university conducts several test sessions during the year at centres across India.
- JEE Main route: A valid score can replace GAT, so applicants using this route do not need a separate GAT attempt.
- TS EAPCET route: Students domiciled in Telangana can apply using their rank. This is commonly used for seat allotment within the state quota framework.
- Lateral entry: Holders of a relevant engineering diploma can enter the second year directly through AP/TS ECET or GAT Lateral.
Among B.Tech branches, CSE, AI/ML, and Data Science receive the greatest application volumes and face the strongest competition. Many applicants come from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with plans to enter Hyderabad's IT sector.
MBA Selection
A bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 50% marks is required for the School of Business Hyderabad. Accepted tests are CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, GMAT, and the GITAM Management Aptitude Test, also called GMAT-GITAM. Entrance scores determine the shortlist for group discussion and personal interview rounds. Across specialisations, the Hyderabad MBA intake ranges from 120 to 180 seats.
MPP Selection at Kautilya School
GAT PG, CAT, and GMAT scores provide entry routes to the MPP, with UPSC-related scores also considered. Fresh graduates who show an interest in policy and governance can apply alongside working professionals. Professionals typically bring 2 to 7 years of experience in government, NGOs, or corporate policy roles.
Pharmacy, Architecture, Arts, Science, and Other Admissions
For B.Pharm, students from PCM or PCB, meaning Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, can apply through GAT or TS EAPCET. M.Pharm requires GPAT qualification, with GAT PG also listed as an accepted entrance route. Architecture applicants need NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 scores. GAT and CUET UG are accepted for BBA, BA, and B.Sc, while MA and M.Sc use GAT PG or CUET PG.
The programme-wise entrance options are listed below.
| Programme | Accepted Entrance Examinations |
|---|---|
| B.Tech | GAT, JEE Main, TS EAPCET |
| M.Tech | GATE, GPAT, TS PGECET, GAT PG |
| MBA | CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, GMAT, GAT (Management) |
| MPP at Kautilya | GAT PG, CAT, GMAT; UPSC score considered |
| B.Pharm | GAT, TS EAPCET |
| M.Pharm | GPAT, GAT PG |
| B.Arch | NATA, JEE Main Paper 2 |
| BBA, BA, B.Sc | GAT, CUET UG |
| M.Sc, MA | GAT PG, CUET PG |
| Ph.D. | UGC-NET, GATE, GAT Ph.D. |

GITAM Hyderabad Rankings
NIRF assesses GITAM Deemed to be University as one institution across Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. Hyderabad therefore shares the university's ranking; NIRF does not issue a separate campus rank.
| Ranking Organisation | Category | 2025 Rank |
|---|---|---|
| NIRF | University | 88 |
The university received NAAC A++ in March 2023, placing its accreditation among the highest outcomes for private deemed universities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Its 88th position in NIRF's University category reflects the combined campuses' teaching and learning resources, research, and graduate outcomes.
GITAM Hyderabad Campus and Infrastructure
Rudraram, Patancheru Mandal, in Sangareddy district, Telangana, is home to the 120-acre campus. HITEC City is 35 km away. Road access is available through NH 65, the Mumbai Highway connecting Hyderabad with Pune.
Each of the seven schools has a separate building. Engineering, Pharmacy, and Science students have dedicated laboratories, alongside shared facilities such as the central library, sports areas, and food court. Security operates throughout the day and night, and dedicated transport routes connect the campus with areas of Hyderabad.
On-campus hostels accommodate 1,600 students, with two blocks for boys and two for girls. Mess services and common facilities are attached to the accommodation. Rooms are allotted on a first-come basis. For B.Tech and MBA students arriving from outside Telangana, campus accommodation is recommended because central Hyderabad is some distance away.

GITAM has the widest subject range of the three, together with established NAAC accreditation and a NIRF University rank. Its Pharmacy, Architecture, and Kautilya MPP options suit students seeking study across disciplines beyond engineering. The newer Mahindra University combines Mahindra Group backing and industry links with a Bahadurpally location within Hyderabad. VIT-AP offers competitive fees at its newly developed Amaravati campus in Andhra Pradesh.
