BRSNC Admission Process

Class 12 board marks decide admission to every undergraduate course at BRSNC. BA, B.Sc, B.Com and BBA applicants do not have to take an entrance examination. Postgraduate selection is based on performance in the relevant bachelor's degree.

UG Admission (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA)

Applicants must have passed 10+2 through WBCHSE Higher Secondary or another recognised board. They also need the stream and subjects required for their chosen programme. The college calculates merit from the best-subject aggregate in the qualifying examination. Candidates with West Bengal domicile submit their applications through the centralised portal required by the state.

  • Complete the application on the West Bengal Centralised UG Admission Portal.
  • Upload the Class 12 marksheet and all required supporting records.
  • Check the merit lists issued over multiple rounds.
  • Pay the course fee through the portal to confirm admission.

An Honours applicant must have studied the relevant subject in Class 12. For instance, admission to B.Sc Honours Physics requires Physics at the 10+2 level. A Commerce background is required for B.Com Honours, although applicants from other streams may be considered according to merit and the availability of seats.

PG Admission (MA, M.Com, M.Sc)

Applications for postgraduate courses are submitted through the BRSNC portal at brsnc.in. Admission follows undergraduate merit, and applicants must hold a relevant Honours or equivalent bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The conditions of West Bengal State University also apply.

Applicants to M.Sc Microbiology and M.Sc Computer Science generally come from B.Sc Honours programmes in Microbiology, Computer Science or related fields. M.Com admission requires B.Com Honours, while MA Education is available to graduates who studied Education at Honours level.

BRSNC Placements and Career Outcomes

As a general degree institution, BRSNC does not organise a formal placement system of the kind commonly found at engineering and management institutes. Its Placement Cell instead helps final-year students explore jobs and further-study options.

Arts, Science and Commerce graduates commonly follow these routes:

  • Government examinations: preparation for WBPSC, UPSC, SSC, IBPS and SBI banking recruitment, railway recruitment and staff selection examinations
  • Education careers: a BEd for primary or secondary teaching, or postgraduate study followed by NET or SET qualification for college teaching
  • Advanced study: MA, M.Sc or M.Com at BRSNC or another university before seeking employment
  • Private employment: opportunities in banking, finance, media, retail and IT, particularly for Computer Science and Electronics graduates

Computer Science and Electronics graduates commonly seek technology jobs within the Kolkata and North Bengal employment network. Microbiology students move into diagnostic laboratories, pharmaceutical businesses and food-processing industries. BBA graduates generally look for corporate positions and management trainee roles in the Kolkata metropolitan area.
