Class 12 marks determine selection for undergraduate courses, and the college does not hold a separate UG entrance examination. Applications and selection lists are handled through its own admission portal, following the University of Calcutta's admission calendar. The 2026-27 session is underway; selection for this intake involved multiple merit lists, including a 37th list.
| Programme | Selection method | Minimum eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| BA, B.Sc, B.Com and BBA Honours | Class 12 merit through scottishadmissions.com | 60% aggregate in 10+2 |
| B.Ed, women only | West Bengal Teacher Education Entrance Test | Graduation with 50% marks |
| M.Sc Botany and Chemistry | B.Sc marks through the PG admission portal | B.Sc in the relevant subject with 50% marks |
Applicants need a 10+2 qualification from a recognised board with at least 60% overall or in the relevant subject group.
Women applying for B.Ed must hold a degree from a recognised university with at least 50% marks. For reserved categories, the requirement is 45%. Admission follows the West Bengal state-level Teacher Education Entrance Test. Students who clear the test and meet the counselling requirements are considered for seat allotment.
A relevant B.Sc Honours degree with at least 50% marks is needed for either M.Sc course. Selection uses the Honours marks, and the college publishes a separate postgraduate merit list. The 2026-27 PG admission process also included Phase 2 merit lists.
For General Category applicants, the usual cutoff range in English, Economics and Computer Science Honours is 90 to 95%. Bengali and Sanskrit Honours generally have lower cutoffs. The required marks change with the subject, category and admission year, so applicants should check the college portal for that year's subject-wise and category-wise lists.
| Honours subject | Category | Typical cutoff range |
|---|---|---|
| English | General | 90 to 95% |
| Economics | General | 90 to 95% |
| Computer Science | General | 90 to 95% |
Teaching in core academic subjects is the college's main focus, and campus recruitment is limited. NIRF figures for M.Sc Botany and Chemistry graduates show placement rates between 7% and 14% across recent cycles. The corresponding median annual packages range from INR 1.8 lakh to INR 3.2 lakh.
| Academic cycle | Graduates placed | Median annual package |
|---|---|---|
| 2023-24 | 8% | INR 1.8 LPA |
| 2022-23 | 7% | INR 2.4 LPA |
| 2021-22 | 14% | INR 3.2 LPA |
Most Science graduates continue towards an M.Sc or Ph.D. research, while many also prepare for competitive examinations. Arts graduates commonly take WBCS, UPSC, SSC and banking examinations, including IBPS and SBI. B.Com and BBA graduates find jobs independently in auditing, accounting and financial services.
Students can approach the central placement cell for help finding internships and entry-level jobs. Its support is particularly relevant to Kolkata's banking, financial services and insurance sector, known as BFSI, and the media sector.
Under NIRF's Colleges category, Scottish Church College moved into the 101 to 150 band in 2025 after securing rank 88 in 2024.
| Ranking organisation | Category | 2025 | 2024 |

Hedua in North Kolkata is home to the college's compact city campus. Its main academic building, a Grade-I Heritage Structure, is one of the city's oldest educational buildings and an important part of the college's identity. Facilities include departmental laboratories, a general library with digital archives, computer labs and a women's hostel.

Student development activities are supported by the Entrepreneurship Cell, Women and Gender Development Cell, Kathakali Debnath Innovation Centre and Institution's Innovation Council.
The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, or NCMEI, recognises the college as a minority institution. It also holds NAAC A Grade accreditation in the 3rd Cycle. Membership of the Association of Indian Universities, or AIU, helps graduates obtain credential verification when applying abroad.
Financial support includes minority scholarships, merit awards and government schemes for eligible social and economic categories. Minority students can apply for central government scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal, or NSP. Students who perform exceptionally well in their first year can also receive merit scholarships.
State assistance includes WBMDFC awards and government scholarship schemes for SC/ST students. Eligible students from socially and economically backward categories apply through the relevant state portals. The college welfare office helps them prepare documents and complete applications.
These three government-aided colleges serve a similar group of undergraduate applicants in Kolkata. Each is affiliated with the University of Calcutta, making them common options for students comparing colleges within that university system.

Read Full ReviewI really don't like the course of our department as it is sometimes confusing because four teachers split our major subject (i.e. political science) so sometimes it's confusing and hard to differentiate their topics and chapters as it's similar to each other. So, basically it can be hard to understand how the course works but other than that, it's very good in general, our college has a very good Academic performances in the past and it's faculties are determined and sincere of what they're doing that is teaching.
There are no placements in our college or in campus interview. But I have no Idea about internships as I'm a fresher but I don't think there is either because no senior of ours has done it yet. So I'll be able to find out more about it in my upcoming years.
Read Full ReviewI choose this 3 year multidisciplinary course because I am. Preparing for upsc and this course has a lot of subjects that are related to upsc. And it is easy for me to understand and I am a sport person so choosing physical education as a major is an advantage for me
We have a placement cell in our college and it keep providing us with many job offers. And our placement cell coordinator is really very helpful. I heard once an ex student got 10 lakhs per annum package

Read Full ReviewThe studious environment is good. We got to know The Financial Accounting ,Cost Accounting, Economics in detail etc. til now. The exams are not timely at all at first sem we got 8 months then in 2nd sem we got only 4 which was pretty much short to cover the syllabus.
It was a morning shift college so I can do other errands/studies during the day time. Some Professors are very strict the other ones are very friendly. The Admission process was based on The Higher Secondary Marksheet.
Read Full ReviewThe Botany department in Scottish Church College has always been one of the most renowned departments in the college, apart from having a level of its own, known all over Kolkata for the faculty and their features and very reputed professors. Each of the professors in the department is very capable and handed with specific syllabus to teach, corresponding with their area of study and specialty. All the members in the faculty have a doctorate and are extremely knowledgeable, supportive and professional. Apart from this, the term exams occur semester wise. There are 8 semesters in the current CCF syllabus followed by Scottich Church, which makes it 4 years for attaining a Bachelor’s Degree. Other than the semester exams, there are tutorials held each semester. Each semester lasts around 6 months and of course, in the end of the semester, if prepared enough, semester exams can be easy.
One of the biggest reasons I chose Scottish Church College is because of it’s good reputation and background. It’s an amazing opportunity to be studying in a 197 year old college with has taught people like Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and more. The cut off for the General Quota is can be high and it might make things difficult in order to get admitted into the college but once you’ve made it, it’s a very decent college. The merit lists are made solely off of your Higher Secondary Board Exam results and there is no need for any sort of interview or written exam for admission, other than the counselling sessions and the registration.
Read Full ReviewI chose BBA because it's the best UG course for my career path. BBA has a lots of case study and practice knowledge instead of bookish knowledge. All the facilities are under Calcutta University. They are highly knowledgeable and experienced people with a lot of professionalism. They know exactly what to teach and how to teach. They are also very much helpful and lenient with the students. They will never stop you from scoring. Since I'm still ongoing first semester. I don't know about the exams and stuffs.
The college does not provide with internships as of now. Though other colleges may hire from here. As for placement, the is a placement cell in the college which makes sure students gets placement. But you are strictly coming to this college for placement purpose then this is NOT the right college for you. The college provides with a very basic placement of 3-4lpa average. Which highest going till 8-9lpa. My plans after the degree is for higher studies.
Read Full ReviewThe reason to chose such course is for the non-partisan way of delivering knowledge that is helpful for the understanding of the present situations through our own thoughts. Here the faculty is the most supportive and oldest faculty that has helped. Teaching methods include both online and offline while all the exams are taken in the semester format.
Placement and job opportunities are available via the placement cell of the college where companies starting from established to start ups arrive for campus placements and the students decide to chose their career based on their skills. While many pursued their passions encouraged by the institution, some chose packages of TCS of ?40000 per month to make an earning. While many students went to the line of buisness, one may chose creative writing, translation skills and editing as it's career path with the help of history of course to succeed.
Read Full ReviewWe had a good faculty with diverse and very educated teachers. We could approach them for any issues academic or non. They were great in the fields of subjects they were teaching. It was good to study under them.
We do get placements in the end of the third year if opted for it. It's not compulsory, then there are interviews held with the respective companies and on passing one gets the job. It's in a small scale.
Read Full ReviewI have chosen this particular course to increase my knowledge in political Science. And there won't be any colleges who could provide the comfort that I needed other than Scottish Church College. The faculty is renowned and well developed. All of the professors are PhD scholars. They have immense knowledge in their own particular field that makes it easier for us to grasp a topic. The term exams are basically twice a year. Before the final semester exam you have to give an internal exam which will also added to the marksheet.
There is a placement cell in the college itself. The placement cell is a one stop guide for your concern of job opportunities. Many companies come to Collab and there are many people that have been in various fields and abroad thanks to the placement cell. My plans are something else. I will go for competitive exams or masters after the course.
