First of all I've chosen this college for it's renowned 182 year old legacy. The college is itself is popular among all the bengalees throughout. Also some eminent personalities like Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose has also been a student of this particular college. This made up my mind the very first time I heard the news. Apart from that the department is also very much popular. Pol science department has been number one since the past. Specifically no. I didn't face any group discussions or interviews or written tests for admission. We got this by our result in the boards only.
I have chosen this particular course to increase my knowledge in political Science. And there won't be any colleges who could provide the comfort that I needed other than Scottish Church College. The faculty is renowned and well developed. All of the professors are PhD scholars. They have immense knowledge in their own particular field that makes it easier for us to grasp a topic. The term exams are basically twice a year. Before the final semester exam you have to give an internal exam which will also added to the marksheet.
There are multiple internships that the college offers. Sometimes with Tisco or sometimes with Calcutta High Court. It literally is based on the profile that will suit the best for the specific internships. The stipend are quite high too . It can range between 3000-15000.
There is a placement cell in the college itself. The placement cell is a one stop guide for your concern of job opportunities. Many companies come to Collab and there are many people that have been in various fields and abroad thanks to the placement cell. My plans are something else. I will go for competitive exams or masters after the course.
Tution fees are 450/- Annual charges are 4935/- Academic Development fee 275/- There are no other fees involved. The fees of my batchmate are also the same. They also pay the same as ours. There are specifically 2 scholarships are available. One is given by the college at some point. And the other is Swami Vivekananda scholarship. Most of my classmates got it. So people who'll apply in it can surely go for it.
The life at campus is pretty amazing. You'll feel like you're at your own home. Everyone is so welcoming it'll never be a dull day. We also organise a fest which is called Caledonia and it's the must watch and you can't miss this at all if you're in Scottish Church College. It's basically conducted in December. Now coming to the library. The library is very vast. You'll get almost everything you need. There's no shortage of material that makes it so unique. Also there are so many sports that has been organised by the college. A must stop for atheletes. And the best part is we have several college clubs like nature club, debate club, chess club, dance club etc etc. they are all a life saver to survive the college life at it's best.
I haven't opted for the hostel. But I do know about the infrastructure. The food quality is quite good. The menu has a variety of fish, meat and it'll take very good care of your low carb diet. The registration to the hostels based solely on the results of class 12 only.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
