CCET Chandigarh Admission Process
BE Admission
Selection for the CCET Chandigarh BE programme takes place through JAC Chandigarh centralised counselling and depends on the applicant's JEE Main rank. For the 2026-27 intake, students with JEE Main 2026 results had to register at jacchd.admissions.nic.in, enter their preferred choices, and take part in seat allotment. Applicants need Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Class 12 with at least 45% aggregate. The minimum is 40% for SC/ST applicants.
- Qualify JEE Main and complete registration on the JAC Chandigarh portal.
- Submit and lock the preferred colleges and engineering branches.
- Participate in the usual 4 to 5 allotment rounds and the subsequent spot round.
- After receiving an allotment, report to CCET for document checks and payment of the required fee.
- Applicants with Chandigarh domicile may compete for both Chandigarh Quota and All India Quota seats. Other applicants can claim only All India Quota seats.
- Each engineering branch offers 60 seats. Horizontal reservation for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and EWS categories follows Chandigarh UT rules.
- Candidates must complete reporting, document verification, and fee payment after allotment as required by the counselling process.
The following table summarises the entrance route and minimum qualification for each group of programmes.
| Programme | Exam | Eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| BE in all branches | JEE Main | 10+2 with PCM and 45% aggregate |
| BE Lateral Entry | JEE Main Lateral or JAC Lateral | Diploma in the relevant discipline |
| Ph.D. | GATE or UGC-NET, followed by an interview | ME/M.Tech, or BE with 60% marks |
BE Cutoff Information
Closing ranks under JAC Chandigarh 2026 differed across branches. Computer Science and Engineering had the strongest competition, with general-category closing ranks usually between 4,000 and 10,000 for Chandigarh domicile seats. For Civil Engineering, the general-category closing range for Chandigarh domicile applicants was 30,000 to 60,000.
Lateral Entry BE
Students who hold a relevant engineering diploma can seek admission directly to the three-year lateral-entry BE through JAC Chandigarh Lateral counselling. The number of lateral seats is linked to the intake of the regular BE batch. Applicants must have completed a three-year diploma in the applicable engineering field with at least 45% marks.
CCET Chandigarh Placements
The Training and Placement Cell at CCET Chandigarh manages recruitment activities for students in the final year of BE. Institutional figures reported for NIRF 2025 show that 119 of 206 graduating students secured placements in the latest reported season.
| Placement Metric | Reported Figure |
|---|---|
| Students placed | 119 out of 206 |
| Highest package | INR 32 LPA, offered by Amazon |
| Median package | INR 6.73 LPA |
Most high-value offers go to CSE and ECE graduates. Civil and Mechanical Engineering students also enter infrastructure, manufacturing, and government-sector roles. The recruiters and their sectors are listed below.
| Company | Sector |
|---|---|
| Amazon | Technology, with the highest offer of INR 32 LPA |
| Infosys | IT and Software Services |
| Nagarro | Software Products and Engineering |
| Walmart Global Tech | Technology and Retail |
| Hindustan Unilever | FMCG and Manufacturing |
Some graduates choose higher education instead of accepting a campus offer. They use GATE scores to seek admission to IIT, NIT, and IIIT programmes or take PSU recruitment examinations conducted by organisations such as DRDO, BEL, BHEL, and ISRO. Access to Mohali IT Park and Chandigarh's expanding technology cluster has supported greater local placement absorption in recent years.
CCET Chandigarh Rankings
In the 2024 NIRF Engineering assessment, CCET Chandigarh appeared in the 251 to 300 band. Although it was outside the top 100, it remained among the higher-ranked government engineering colleges in the Chandigarh Union Territory. CCET takes part in NIRF each year and submits its placement and research information for assessment.
| Ranking Body | Category | 2024 Rank |
|---|---|---|
| NIRF | Engineering | 251 to 300 band |
CCET Chandigarh Campus and Infrastructure
CCET Chandigarh has a 32-acre campus in Sector 26, close to Sukhna Lake and the Shivalik Hills. Its position within Chandigarh's planned city network provides access to public transport and other city facilities.
Academic and student facilities include:
- Engineering laboratories serving CSE, ECE, Civil, and Mechanical departments
- A central library with digital resources and a reading hall
- Separate hostels for men and women, with annual charges of up to INR 6,400
- Computer laboratories and data centre facilities
- A sports ground, indoor games facilities, and a student activity centre
- A workshop used for practical instruction in Mechanical and Civil Engineering
Mohali and Panchkula are within commuting distance of the campus and are home to technology companies and industrial units. This location helps students find internships and is also convenient for day scholars. A substantial share of the student population comes from the Chandigarh Tricity area.
CCET Chandigarh Scholarships
Students at CCET Chandigarh can apply for central government and UT Chandigarh scholarship schemes. The institution also provides merit-linked fee concessions.
| Scholarship | Eligibility | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| AICTE PG Scholarship for Lateral BE with GATE | GATE-qualified lateral-entry students | INR 12,400 per month |
| Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST Students | SC/ST students from UT Chandigarh whose parental income is below the prescribed limit | Full or partial fee reimbursement |

Chandigarh-domicile students from SC/ST categories can use the Post-Matric Scholarship to cover a large share of their tuition charges. Applications must be submitted every year through scholarships.gov.in before the state deadline. Students entering through lateral admission with a valid GATE qualification may also receive the monthly AICTE scholarship.
CCET Chandigarh vs UIET Chandigarh vs PEC Chandigarh
Students using JAC counselling often assess CCET Chandigarh alongside the University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, and Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. JEE Main-based JAC counselling is the main admission route at all three institutions.
| Parameter | CCET Chandigarh | UIET Chandigarh | PEC Chandigarh |
|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Government, UT Administration | Government, Panjab University constituent institute | Central deemed university |
| Established | 2002 | 2002 | 1921 |
| Affiliation | Panjab University | Panjab University, constituent institute | Autonomous deemed university |
| NIRF Engineering | 251 to 300 band, 2024 | Not among the top 300 | Ranked among the top 200 |
| BE Total Fees | INR 3,03,992 | Similar to CCET | Higher than CCET |
| Admission | JAC Chandigarh | JAC Chandigarh | JAC Chandigarh |
| Highest Placement | INR 32 LPA, Amazon | Comparable to CCET | Higher than CCET |
CCET and UIET are the closest alternatives when fees and admission cutoffs are compared. PEC Chandigarh has a history spanning more than a century, a stronger NIRF position, and higher average placements, but its fees are also higher. Applicants from the Chandigarh Tricity region with JEE Main ranks from 10,000 to 60,000 commonly consider all three choices through the same JAC portal.
