Ques. Which facilities are available to students at IISER TVM?

Ans. IISER TVM provides equipped spaces for teaching, research and student activities. Its facilities include academic and student amenities, a health centre, a guest house and housing for faculty and staff. The fully residential campus has separate hostel accommodation for male and female students. The hostel complex contains two dining halls, and students can also use other eateries.

Sports facilities include an indoor stadium and outdoor courts, while several recreation spaces support cultural activities. Staff remain available at the health centre throughout the day and night. An ambulance can take patients to a larger hospital when an emergency requires immediate medical treatment. The residential complex at Kattippara houses institute faculty and staff. Security personnel are on duty at all times. The campus also has ATMs of the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) and Canara Bank, along with housekeeping staff who clean common areas.

Ques. What are the admission requirements for the Integrated PhD Programme at IISER TVM?

Ans. The Integrated PhD Programme combines a Master of Science degree with a PhD. During the first three semesters, students take core and elective courses focused on Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics. The fourth semester includes advanced courses and project work. After successfully completing the comprehensive and project work, students continue their research towards the PhD degree.

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or a related field. Admission to the School of Physics also requires a valid Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) score. The minimum academic requirement is 55% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 out of 10 in the bachelor's degree, as declared by the university. SC, ST and PD applicants receive eligibility relaxation according to Government of India rules.

Ques. Which three IISER TVM scholarships are offered through the NSP portal?

Ans. One option is the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students, a Central Sector Scheme introduced by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. It gives financial support to meritorious Scheduled Tribe students and encourages them to continue into higher education. Students seeking this support must apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), which is open for applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. Another option is the National Scholarship for Higher Education for Scheduled Caste students. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, invites applications for this scholarship from meritorious SC students.

The third option is provided through the Department of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. A person with at least 40% disability may apply after obtaining a disability certificate from a competent medical authority.
