IISER TVM admits students to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral science programmes. Its main courses include BS + MS and M.Sc. The UG application fee is INR 2,000 for General category applicants and INR 1,000 for SC/ST applicants, while the PG application fee is INR 1,000 for General quota applicants and INR 500 for SC/ST quota applicants.

UG selection considers the JEE Advanced Common Rank List, or CRL, and scores from State and Central Boards. Students applying through the SCB channel must take the IISER TVM Aptitude Test, or IAT, and attend an interview.

The institute's popular programmes are BS + MS and M.Sc.

For PG admission, applicants first take national-level online screening tests. Subject-wise IAT screening conducted by IISER TVM and interviews held by the respective schools follow.

PhD applicants take national-level online screening tests for their subjects. The respective schools interview candidates shortlisted through the screening test.

Integrated PhD applicants need a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Technology or a related field, with at least 55%. Shortlisted applicants take a written test, and those selected from the test attend one or more interviews with a valid JEST scorecard.

IISER TVM UG Admissions 2026

Students seeking admission to the IISER TVM UG programme are considered through the JEE Advanced Common Rank List, or CRL, or their State and Central Board scores. Under the SCB route, applicants must clear the IISER TVM Aptitude Test and then attend an interview.

The UG course details, including the available subjects and admission requirements, are listed below.

The UG process begins with online registration on the official portal. Applicants complete the form, upload their documents and pay the applicable fee. They must submit the form before the deadline, download the admit card and take IAT. After results are published, students enter their IISER campus preferences. A candidate who receives a seat must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee, upload documents for verification and accept the allotted IISER seat.

IISER TVM PG Admissions 2026

PG applicants are assessed through national-level online screening tests for the relevant subject. Shortlisting may be based on the JEST screening test, after which the schools concerned conduct interviews. The selection details also list IAT and interview requirements for M.Sc admission.

IISER TVM offers the following postgraduate and integrated programme options.

For the Integrated PhD programme, a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Technology or a related subject is required, along with at least 55%. Shortlisted applicants sit for a written test. Those shortlisted again after the test attend one or more interviews and must hold a valid JEST scorecard.

PG applicants visit the IISER website, open the PG or Research admissions area, register and complete the application form. Documents must be uploaded and the relevant application fee paid. Shortlisting is based on a JAM or GATE score or a written test, followed by an interview. Selected applicants receive a provisional offer letter and confirm their seats by paying the admission fee.

IISER TVM PhD Admissions 2026

A recognised university master's degree is required for IISER TVM PhD admission. Applicants must also have qualified through a national-level examination such as GATE, CSIR-JRF or UGC-JRF. Selection includes the written IAT conducted by IISER TVM and an interview.

Each subject has a national-level online screening test conducted by IISER TVM. The screening result is used to shortlist applicants, and the respective schools then hold the interviews.

IISER TVM Admission Process 2026

Eligible students can apply for UG, PG and doctoral programmes at IISER TVM. UG selection uses the JEE Advanced CRL and an interview. For PG programmes, the sequence includes a national-level online screening test, a subject-wise IISER TVM Aptitude Test and interviews conducted by the relevant schools.

A printout of the SBI Collect payment record
All educational qualification certificates, including Class 10, Class 12 and UG records
The bachelor's degree certificate if the degree is complete, or marksheets for every semester if it is not yet complete
The certificate for the qualified national-level examination
An SC, ST, PwD or OBC-NCL category certificate, where applicable
A photo identity document, such as a PAN card, voter card, driving licence, college ID or passport

IISER TVM Admission FAQs

Ques. What support does the IISER TVM Counselling Centre provide to students?

Ans. Students can receive confidential one-to-one counselling for a short period at the IISER TVM Counselling Centre. A student facing a personal concern can speak with a mental health professional to understand the issue and make helpful changes. These sessions can help students process their feelings, work through difficulties, recognise their strengths and build new coping skills. Some major psychiatric conditions first appear during the late teenage years or early twenties. An evaluation can identify or rule out such conditions, and treatment can begin early when a condition is diagnosed. All counselling sessions are free and fully confidential.

Ques. How can students travel to the IISER TVM campus?

Ans. The campus can be reached by several forms of transport. It is about 7 km from Vithura Junction. Vithura is a small village located about 50 km from Thiruvananthapuram. The distance from the airport to the permanent campus is about 60 km, and a taxi costs about Rs. 1,800. Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station and the KSRTC Central bus station, commonly called Thampanoor, are about 50 km from IISER TVM. KSRTC buses operate to the Vithura campus from the Central bus station opposite Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station.

Ques. Which research areas and laboratory facilities are available in the IISER TVM Chemistry Department?

Ans. Chemistry research covers inorganic and organometallic chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, DNA nanotechnology, theoretical chemistry, computational chemistry and non-linear dynamics. The department also studies the photophysics and photochemistry of nanomaterials and hybrid materials, along with NMR spectroscopy.

Its experimental facilities include 500 and 700 MHz NMR instruments, a single-crystal X-ray diffractometer, a powder X-ray diffractometer, a scanning electron microscope and an atomic force microscope. Other equipment includes absorption, emission, Raman and circular dichroism spectrometers; femtosecond transient absorption and fluorescence systems; nanosecond transient absorption; picosecond fluorescence; differential scanning calorimetry; a thermogravimetric analyser; DNA and peptide synthesisers; GCMS; LCMS; GPC; and HPLC.

The basics of IISER TVM

Remarks:

The institute has excellent research facilities and funding. The academics are really rigorous and difficult to get through. The entrance is IISER Aptitude Test. The cutoff is above 130 for this institute for general category for this institute. The exam asks 15 questions each of 4 marks in each Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology.

Best research Institute in world

What I Liked

The college infrastructure is very very good, the faculty have very good qualification they acchived best position of scientist in world . And they are the members of royal Society of physics chemistry and they are the members of department of science and technology India this are the position they secured and they are the members of fnyas and many more.
There teaching style is very nice. Campus life is very very good with beautiful ✨ place .

What I didn’t like

I doesn't dislike anything in campus except we don't get time for extracurricular activities this is the cons of this college
While if you belongs to North India then you don't like too much lunch in mess because they make South dishes without spiciness.

Remarks:

For admission in this college we have to just write jee advance and secure in under 9k rank crl while this is the first option and the second is iiser aptitude test you have secure in this test under 2.8k crl out of 2 lacs according to the data of 2024 . I think no need to prepare for these counselling rounds you have to just upload your documents what they require that's solve.

IISER TVM:the beauty in the mist of Western Ghats

What I Liked

The college is one of the best college's in India, there's nothing to complain about but there should be good cricket facilities for the students.
The college infrastructure is pretty nice,currently a new building is undergoing construction which will be our new Maths department Building.

What I didn’t like

There are no proper coaching facilities for sports like cricket.
And the food quality of the mess can be improved a little bit .

Remarks:

I wanted to pursue research and IISERs are one the top most institute in which you can fulfill your research dream to become a great scientist. I choosed IISER TVM because i wanted to away from Home its about 4000km away from my home. Good things about the college is you get almost top tier facilities which are received by all of the Indian Institute colleges + all of the professors here are greats of their respective fields.And all the professor are very friendly and easy to interact,you can't ask anything more of a college. To get into IISER TVM you have to give IISER aptitude test exam which is conducted by JAC and you have to score atleast 105+/240 to secure any IISER(if you are general),and you have to be under 3000 rank if you want to join IISER TVM,for reserved categories it becomes really easy because they can get in by very less numbers.To prepare for IAT you can refer to coaching platforms like Sciastra or else your Normal JEE preparation is enough just you have to study Bio.

What I Liked

Reasearch labs are really Good.Facultied are really skilled in developing a student's talent
All facilities and basic needs for the student is available within the campus itself.

What I didn’t like

Almost all basic needs are in campus itself.buy in order to reach trivandrum it take 2 hours..but it is not a big deal
There is nothing to say .All are Good and it is very good college for me

Remarks:

I was really interested in science and this institute provides 2 year foundation course and 3 year major subject course.I entered through iiser aptitude test and now I am majoring in physics and had my minor project in chemistry.Students can choose major and minor courses according to their interests.

What I Liked

Infrastructure is amazing faculty is also good campus is great
It's purely focused on basic science and all have to read all subjects even if he or she don't want to do specialisation in it

What I didn’t like

It's very far from city and took 2 hrs to go
Course is very lengthy and you have very less time to prepare for it

Remarks:

Purely focused on research if you have an interest in basic science then this is for you only iisertvm is best in biology and different universities have different specialties so according to that you can select an admission channel that is IAT and jee advance.

IISER Thiruvananthapuram a leading research institute of India

What I Liked

The think that I like about the college is its natural beauty it is situated in a hill of western ghats range near a rain forest. So we are lucky enough to have some mesmerizing views of nature in monsoon.
Apart from the views I like about the talks and conferences by various distinguished persons that are organised in the institute this year Morten Meldal came who was the Chemistry Nobel Laureate of 2022.

What I didn’t like

The institute is about 40 kms away from Thiruvananthapuram city and its nearest town is vithura which is around 7 kms so there are not many shops or restaurants near the campus. Although the transport system is appreciable.
The institute is situated in a hill so if you miss the bus going to the academic block then we need walk around 1.5 km to the academic block. And it's horrible to walk on the roads of hill in sunny days .

Remarks:

IISERs have an excellent performance in research. Many of the students from IISER s went to some of the top universities across the world for higher studies. Here most of the students want to go for higher studies so placement cells is not as active as IITs or NITs. But in research it has an outstanding environment which much more better than any other NIT or new IITs. There are some students who got campus placements from IISERs also but the number is quite less than engineering colleges. Apart from academics.
