SURTECH was founded in the year of 2009 and is affiliated with WBSCTVESD & MAKAUT. The institute has long been recognized for its research culture and expertise in engineering, science, and management education while also being the only institute in Kolkata to have its own sports complex.   • Eligibility: Applicants must pass the higher secondary examination under any state/central government-recognized board with physics and math being compulsory subjects. A minimum of 45% is required altogether and 40% for reserved category students. Students also need to obtain a valid score on JEE Main/WBJEE/CEE-AMPAI

  • Eligibility: Diploma from any AICTE approved Institution / B.Sc. Degree from any recognized University as defined by UGC having at least 45% marks and 40% for Reserved Category and pass marks in XII standard with Mathematics in case of B.Sc. Degree holders. SURTECH Scholarships

The institute provides financial aid to students through management and government-funded scholarships. A detailed list of the same is provided below. 

Name of the scholarship/scheme Details
Freeship Schemes The institute offers full and half freeship to students from poor economic backgrounds. Students must submit documents to show family income which will be verified. Students that are already receiving funding from external agencies are not eligible for this scheme.

Institute UG Scholarship		 A scholarship of INR 60,000 is offered to students that studied a three-year diploma in SurTech. The amount is divided as INR 10,000 per semester.
Institute PG Scholarship The Institute provides a subsidy of 20% on tuition costs, to external students who have a DGPA of 7.0 or higher in their recent qualifying examination for studying M.Tech. Which is again INR 10,000 per semester. Similarly, students who did a B.Tech course at SurTech Institute and are admitted to the M.Tech course are eligible for a scholarship worth 20% of the tuition expenses. All M.Tech students would also receive a monthly stipend of Rs.3000.
Sikh Scholarship Students with a poor economic background that belongs to the Sikh community can get a 50% freeship or scholarship from the Gurudwara. It is however only valid from the second semester and only on tuition fees.
Scholarship Schemes for North Eastern States Students from the northeast region will be awarded a scholarship of INR 40,000. However there are a few things to keep in mind about the scholarship, 
  • Candidates must have a valid Aadhaar Card.
  • Candidates must secure minimum requisite qualification for admission in B.Tech Lateral course.
  • Scholarship will be available @ Rs. 7000/- each for 3rd & 4th Semester in ( 2nd year ) and Rs. 6500/- each from 5th to 8th Semester ( 3rd & 4th Year) from the existing fees structure.
  • To continue availing of the existing scholarship, the student must not have any year lag
Sibling Scholarship Scheme Students studying in B.Tech, M.Tech, or MCA whose siblings are joining the institute, will be given a 20% scholarship, however, proof of the relationship has to be submitted. 
Employee Scholarship Scheme Children or immediate siblings of permanent employees will be given scholarships according to their tenure of service, however, the employees must have 3 years of continuous work experience.

  • Interest rate reduction and payback period extension from 5 to 15 years
  • Costs for the hostel and others are covered and a moratorium period ranging from six months to one year is provided.

Ques. Which loan scheme is the best for students wanting to take a loan to study in SurTech?

Ans:West Bengal students studying in SurTech can obtain an educational loan through the Students Credit Card Loan Plan for their studies in Diploma, UG, and PG level courses. Students under the age of 40 at the time of application studying in any year/semester of courses are eligible to apply for the aforementioned loan plan. The scheme's terms and conditions do not pose any disadvantage to the applicants. The Loan does not demand any form of collateral securities and the Students can borrow up to ten lakh rupees from a state/central cooperative bank or a public/private sector bank at 4% per annum simple interest. The repayment period for any loan obtained under this arrangement is 15 years, including the moratorium period. If the candidates repay the entire loan amount throughout the study time, they will receive a 1% interest discount.
