Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology (VESIT), Mumbai, is a private aided autonomous engineering college that started in 1984 under the Vivekanand Education Society. Boys and girls can apply for separate hostel accommodation. Hostel fees range from INR 1,10,000 to INR 1,60,000 per year, based on the room type. The annual BE fee of INR 1,55,000 may change after review by the Maharashtra fee fixation committee.

VESIT Admission Process

VESIT fills BE, ME, and MCA seats through DTE Maharashtra’s Centralised Admission Process. The college does not run a separate admission test. It has also given all institute-level quota seats to DTE Maharashtra CAP, so there is no management quota.

BE Admission

For all six BE branches, students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2. The minimum required marks are:

  • General (Open) category: 45%
  • SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories: 40%

Maharashtra-domicile students are selected through MHT-CET percentile, while All-India candidature students are considered through JEE Main score. VESIT reserves 51% of seats for Sindhi linguistic minority candidates through DTE CAP. The remaining 49% seats are open through general merit. Maharashtra reservation rules for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, VJ, NT, SBC, PwD, and Ex-Servicemen apply within the relevant category pools.

If seats remain vacant after all DTE CAP rounds, the institute fills them through Against-CAP Vacancy (ACAP) rounds.

ME Admission

For ME admission, students need a BE or B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering branch with at least 50% aggregate and a valid GATE score. Admission is done through DTE Maharashtra PG engineering CAP. The 51% Sindhi minority seat reservation is also followed for ME seats within the CAP process.

MCA Admission

MCA applicants must have a graduation degree in any stream, Mathematics at either 10+2 or graduation level, and at least 50% aggregate. Seats are allotted through MAH-MCA-CET scores under DTE Maharashtra CAP.

VESIT Campus and Infrastructure

VESIT is located in Chembur, Mumbai, an eastern suburb connected to central and western Mumbai through the Chembur metro line and the Harbour railway corridor. The campus has engineering laboratory blocks, a central library, seminar halls, and an auditorium.

The laboratories support computer engineering, electronics, instrumentation, AI and data science, robotics, and communications. These labs are upgraded regularly. The library has print and digital resources, including access to IEEE, Elsevier, and other databases. Programmes with NBA accreditation have cleared national benchmarks for teaching-learning process, faculty, and infrastructure. Since VESIT received UGC autonomy in 2023, it can frame its own curriculum and examination pattern.

Separate hostels are available for boys and girls, with annual fees of INR 1,10,000 to INR 1,60,000. Students also have access to a cafeteria, sports area, and student activity centre.
