SRMJEEE Paper Structure

The 2026 paper had 130 multiple-choice questions for 130 marks, to be completed in 2 hours 30 minutes. Physics and Chemistry carried 35 questions each, Mathematics or Biology carried 40, and English with Aptitude carried 20.

English and Aptitude have a combined allocation in the published pattern. A separate 5-question English and 10-question Aptitude split would give the older 125-question total and does not match this paper.

Mathematics/Biology is one 40-question choice. Adding both subjects to the total would count a section twice. The choice is connected to the B.Tech programmes you can apply for.

SRMJEEE Marking Scheme

Each correct answer earns one mark. There is no negative marking. A wrong or unanswered question adds no mark. The maximum raw score is 130.

Example: 29 correct Physics answers, 27 in Chemistry, 32 in Mathematics and 15 in English/Aptitude give 103 out of 130. Any wrong answers do not reduce this total. The percentage is 103 divided by 130, multiplied by 100: about 79.23%.

This percentage describes marks in that attempt. It does not establish a percentile or admission rank. The SRMJEEE result and counselling process uses the rank issued by SRM.

Should You Choose Mathematics or Biology?

For most engineering programmes, the academic route requires Physics and Mathematics, along with an accepted third subject. Mathematics therefore keeps the wider engineering route open for candidates who meet those requirements.

The Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering and Biomedical Engineering departments allow specified Biology-based combinations. In the 2026 eligibility conditions, students admitted to these programmes without Class 12 Mathematics had to complete an additional 4-credit Mathematics course in the first year.

A Biology option in the entrance test does not make every engineering branch available. For example, the Biology route for Biotechnology should not be treated as an alternative route to a Mathematics-required CSE programme. Match the chosen programme to its academic conditions before submitting the SRMJEEE application.

SRM University AP and SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat have their own eligibility details. They should be checked separately from SRMIST campus requirements.

Can You Return to a Skipped Question?

The 2026 Phase 1 test did not allow students to return to an answered or skipped question. One question appeared at a time. Moving to the next question ended the opportunity to change that response.

This changes how a mock should be attempted. Check the selected option before moving ahead. If you skip a question, do so knowing that the interface does not provide a later review round. A preparation plan based on saving all doubtful questions for the end would not fit that interface.

The test lasted 150 minutes. The submission button became available only after the first 120 minutes, and the exam closed automatically when the allotted 150 minutes ended. Finishing the questions early did not permit an immediate exit.

Remote Test and Mock Exam

SRMJEEE was conducted in remote-proctored online mode. Students used a desktop or laptop with a working webcam and microphone. Mobile phones and tablets were not permitted for taking the exam.

The Phase 1 instructions asked students to log in at least 60 minutes before the test for the photograph, photo-ID capture and instructions. The exam password was given in the admit card. Slot booking came before the SRMJEEE hall-ticket download.

Use the official mock on the same computer and connection planned for the main exam. It checks whether the exam software, camera permissions and question controls work together. Reading sample questions alone does not test those parts of the setup.

The room had to be quiet, with the candidate alone and the face clearly visible. The detailed exam instructions prohibited headphones, phones, notes, other websites and help from another person. A working webcam was necessary to start the examination.

Using the Pattern for Preparation

Physics and Chemistry together account for 70 of 130 marks. Mathematics or Biology adds 40, and English/Aptitude adds 20. The SRMJEEE syllabus sets the topic coverage; the pattern sets the subject totals.

For Physics, practise calculations with units as well as formula selection. For Chemistry, separate numerical topics such as solutions and kinetics from reaction and structure questions. In Mathematics, test a calculated result against the domain or conditions in the question. Biology preparation needs accurate distinctions between related terms and processes.

Practise a full 150-minute attempt with one-way navigation. Keep a separate record of questions missed because of a calculation, an overlooked condition or an unfamiliar topic. Those errors need different revision, even if they cost the same one mark.
