CU Kolkata PhD Eligibility

• Candidates must have a MSc degree in any branch of Biological Sciences from the University of Calcutta or equivalent Universities.
• Selection will be based on a PhD Written and Oral Test (Interview).
• Candidates who have qualified NET/SET/SLET/GATE/M.Phil are exempted from appearing in the written test and should directly appear for the interview.

CU Kolkata PhD Admission Key Points

• Duly filled-in forms need to be submitted at the Department of Microbiology, on all University working days between 12 PM - 3 PM by December 27, 2024.
• Submissions of application form through email will not be accepted.
• The application form must be filled in by the candidate in his/her handwriting, and must be submitted along with self-attested copies of the below-listed documents:
  • Masters certificate
  • NET/SET/SLET/GATE/M.Phil. scorecard
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
• A maximum of 7 candidates can be accommodated to the PhD Microbiology Programme.
• The written test will be of 100 marks consisting of:
  • 25 MCQs of 2 marks each based on the syllabus of the CSIR/UGC NET examination in Biological Sciences
  • 1 compulsory broad answer type question of 50 marks
