Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 February 15 Shift 2 exam ends at 5.30 PM. This shift is for EC, GE, XH, BM, and EY. GATE EC paper was difficult and time-consuming. 

GATE 2025 Feb 15 Shift 1 was conducted from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM. The shift 1 exam is for CY, AE, DA, ES, and PI papers. The overall difficulty level was moderate based on initial reactions with the DA paper reported to be comparatively difficult. The shift-wise paper analysis and memory-based question paper will be released here based on the initial feedback.

GATE 2025 Feb 15 Live Updates

This year, GATE 2025 exam is being conducted on 1st, 2nd, 15th and 16th February 2025 in two shifts every day across multiple centres all over the nation.Candidates must arrive at the exam center at least 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam, a valid photo ID, and GATE 2025 hall ticket.

GATE 2025 Negative Marking

According to the GATE exam pattern 2025, there will be a negative marking for a wrong answer in the MCQs. However, multiple select questions and numerical answer types have no negative markings. The details of GATE negative marking scheme are given below.

The difficulty level for GATE 2025 February 15th, Shift 1-

  • DA- (Moderate to Difficult) The general Aptitude section was easy. For a 100 rank, you need to score at least 85 + marks. The weightage of core subjects like - Algorithms, Python , Hashing , Linear Probing, data structures, machine learning was more. Maths was moderate to difficult and the paper is reported to be lengthy and time consuming.
  • AE –(Moderate to Difficult) Questions were mostly from aerodynamics, fluid mechanics.
  • PI – (Moderate)The general Aptitude section was easy while focus was more on operations research.
  • CY-(Moderate) Questions were a balanced mix of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry.
  • ES( Easy to Moderate)- Questions were focused on chemistry, ecology and sustainable development topics. Candidates are reporting this section to the easiest.

The difficulty level for GATE 2025 February 15th, Shift 2-

  • EC- (Moderate to Difficult) The general Aptitude section was moderate. The weightage of core subjects with 30-32 questions were from the Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Probability, and Statistics. Statistics had the maximum number of questions. The cutoff is anticipated to be in the range of 30 marks out of 100 for general category. There were a mix of concept and application based questions.
  • BM –(Moderate ) Questions were straightforward with a mix of biology, medical engineering.The cutoff is anticipated to be in the range of 25-30 marks out of 100.
  • GE – (Moderate)The general Aptitude section was easy with focus on geology, geophysics. The cutoff is anticipated to be in the range of 25-30 marks out of 100.
  • XH-(Moderate) Questions were direct from psychology, economics, Econometrics and Statistics, Development Economics
  • EY-( Easy to Moderate) Questions were moderate with emphasis on ecology, biodiversity. Biotic and Abiotic Components, Energy Flow in Ecosystems.

GATE 2025 Exam Day Guidelines

Documents to Carry:

  • GATE 2025 Admit Card – Print it in A4 size, single-sided.
  • Valid Photo ID – Aadhaar-UID, Passport, PAN card, Voter ID, Driving License, or any other government-issued ID.
  • Recent Passport-Sized Photograph – It should match the one uploaded during registration.

Items Permitted in the Examination Hall:

  • Black or blue pen
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Face mask and pocket-sized hand sanitizer

Prohibited Items:

  • Electronic devices (smartphones, smartwatches, calculators)
