GATE 2027 Admit Card Date

The city notification helps identify the allotted city. Your admit card gives the assigned examination details; do not treat a city notification as permission to enter the test centre. The GATE 2027 schedule distinguishes registration, examination and result milestones.

How to Download the Admit Card

The admit card will be available online through the application portal linked from the IIT Madras GATE 2027 website. It will not be posted to your address or sent as an email attachment.

1. Open the application portal from the GATE 2027 website when admit-card downloads begin.
2. Sign in to your own application account and open the admit-card download.
3. Save the file and check the name, photo, signature, paper and assigned examination details.
4. Print a clear hard copy, preferably in colour, and keep it with the original application ID.

The GATE 2027 application process explains the DigiLocker-based registration process. An application receipt or payment confirmation is not a substitute for the admit card.

Details to Check on the Admit Card

Match your name and photograph against the original ID, and make sure the printed signature is recognisable. Read the paper code, examination date, session, centre address and reporting instructions carefully. If you selected two papers, check the assignment for each paper rather than assuming both use the same venue or day.

If a paper runs in more than one session, you are assigned only one of them. You cannot choose another session because its timing or venue is more convenient.

Documents for the Exam Centre

Carry a hard copy of the admit card and the same original, valid photo ID specified in the application. A scanned copy, photocopy or expired document is not accepted. Indian candidates must also keep the identity used in the DigiLocker registration consistent.

The original-ID requirement remains even if your details were verified online. A digital record in DigiLocker does not remove the instruction to bring the original identity document to the examination centre.

Admit Card and Identity Problems

Do not edit the PDF yourself to change personal or examination details. Application defects must be handled through the notified correction process. The general application-rectification window is 14 to 21 October 2026, while a specific defect message may give its own instructions and deadline.

Exam-day Rules

Be at the centre in time to follow the reporting instructions on the admit card. The official FAQ permits delayed entry only if the candidate can log in no later than 15 minutes after the examination starts. Late arrival gives no extra examination time. This is not a recommended arrival window.

What you cannot carry

Mobile phones, physical calculators, wallets, watches of any type, electronic or communication devices, books, papers, loose sheets and pen/pencil boxes or pouches are prohibited inside the examination hall. This includes switched-off phones and smart devices. The centre does not promise safe storage of personal belongings.

Calculator and rough work

Use the on-screen scientific calculator. One scribble pad is provided at a time; return it before requesting another, and return the pad at the end. Candidates cannot leave the hall before the scheduled examination end. Scribe and compensatory-time requests must be made through the application process, not first raised at the centre.
