GATE 2026: It is essential to have all the required documents ready beforehand for various stages of GATE 2026 exam. For GATE Registration 2026 documents like passport-size photo, signature, category certificates, ID proof, etc. are required. If any candidate fails to upload any of these documents their GATE 2026 Application Form will be rejected.
GATE Admit Card is another important document without which candidates will not be allowed to appear in the GATE 2026 exam. On the exam day candidates must carry a photo ID proof along with the admit card. The authorities prescribe the list of ID proofs that will be accepted.

GATE 2026: Acceptable Valid Photo ID
Photo ID is required at various events like during GATE Application, on the exam day, in GATE Counselling. The list below shows the Photo IDs that are acceptable in GATE 2026:

GATE 2026 Documents Required: Exam Day
On the day of exam the most important document is GATE Admit Card. Candidates must carry the GATE 2026 Admit Card to the exam center along with a Photo ID Proof. The candidates must also carry a passport-size photograph. Those candidates belonging to PwD category must carry their PwD certificate. The list below shows the documents to be carried with GATE admit Card 2026:

GATE Exam Day Instructions
Candidates must keep in mind the following instructions to be followed on the exam day:
- Candidates must mandatorily carry a Photo ID as it will be required to verify the candidate’s identity.
- If any candidate fails to carry their admit card to the exam center, they will not be allowed to appear in the exam.
- Do not carry ant item that is prohibited in the exam hall like gadgets, electronic items, watches, etc.
GATE 2026 Documents Required: Counselling Process
GATE Counselling 2026 will be done after the GATE Result 2026 is released. Candidates who qualify for GATE 2026 will be eligible to participate in the GATE Counselling. GATE Counselling is of 2 types - GATE COAP and GATE CCMT. The specific documents required may vary for these two counsellings. - Provisional Allotment Letter
- Marksheet of Class 10 and 12

Documents Required for NRI/ OCI Candidates
Candidates who are NRI/ OCI must produce the following documents in order to take admission to the Deemed Universities:
- Affidavit of Sponsorship: In this, the sponsor must declare to cover all the costs of the candidate’s study.
- Embassy Certificate and Sponsor’s Passport Photocopy
- Affidavit of Relationship between the sponsor and the candidate.
