Preparation Strategies By GATE Toppers 2025

The aspirants who are planning to start their preparation for GATE 2025 must go through the tips and strategies suggested by toppers to secure top rank.

Tips From Swarna Biswas, GATE AIR 1 In ECE

  • A well-structured study plan is mandatory to achieve the desired score on the exam.
  • Plan the preparation as per the prescribed syllabus to perform well in the exam.
  • Select the appropriate learning resources as per the latest exam trends.
  • Practice mock tests regularly to keep track of your performance.

Tips From Balmurgan, GATE AIR 1 In Aerospace Engineering

  • Start your preparation as early as possible and finish it by December or January.
  • Do the difficult and lengthy chapters first.
  • Give mock tests to assess your performance and how much you recall.
  • Make sure to analyse your performance after giving mock tests. Check whether the mistake is due to:
  1. Wrong Formula
  2. Wrong Concept
  3. Wrong Calculation

Tips From Abhay Singh, GATE AIR 1 In Civil Engineering

  • Keep your resources limited to PYQs, test series and mock tests.
  • Make short and concise notes for important points and formulas.
  • Make sure to solve the chapter-wise PYQs after the completion of each topic.
  • Revise important formulas daily.
  • Pre-plan your day and make sure to follow it.

Tips From Debasis Mandal, GATE AIR 1 In Chemistry

  • Follow GATE educational and update pages on social media.
  • Solve a variety of practice sets and question banks to clear your concepts.
  • Make sure to focus on small and easy topics.
  • Strictly follow your daily schedule and goals.

Tips From Rahul Mukherjee GATE AIR 1 In Geology and Geophysics (Geology)

  • Analyse GATE's previous year's question papers and identify important topics.
  • Read all the concepts in detail to solve MSQs.
  • Use different highlighters to mark important and very important concepts.
  • Avoid reading any new concept when your exam date is near.

FAQs

Ques. Who scored 100 in GATE?

Ans. No one has ever scored perfect 100 marks in GATE. The highest-ever score was 98.33 scored in ME in 2015.

Ques. If GATE Toppers have scored the same marks then in that case what will be their ranks?

Ans. The score calculation involves score normalization for papers conducted in multi-sessions. The raw marks (for single-session papers) and normalized marks (for multi-session papers) are used for computing GATE scores (out of 1000) and GATE ranks are decided based on these scores.

Ques. What is the highest package of a GATE Topper?

Ans. The salary packages of GATE Toppers depend on many factors. Since the scores are also used for PSU recruitment, if a topper joins a PSU they can get INR 12-30 Lakhs per annum. However, if a GATE Topper prefers to join MTech at IIT or NIT, his/her salary package will depend on the performance in MTech and the job interview. GATE Toppers enjoy pretty good salary packages. Some of the top-paying PSUs include PGCIL, NTPC, ONGC, IOCL, GAIL, etc.

Ques. What GATE rank is required to get into PSUs like ONGC and IOCL?

Ans. Candidates must rank between 100-200 to be considered for a call from PSUs like ONGC and IOCL.

Ques. What are the mock tests and revision plans for CLAT Toppers?

Ans. Know here how CLAT toppers revised for their exam.

Topper Revision and Mock Practice Strategy
