IIT Guwahati Eligibility Criteria For PhD 2025 Admission

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for admission to the PhD program at IIT Guwahati:-

  • Computer Science & Engineering (CSE): Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or related fields with 60% marks (CPI 6.5), or MSc (CS/IT)/MCA with a valid GATE/NET/SLET score, or a four-year Bachelor’s degree with 65% marks (CPI 7.0).
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology with 60% marks (CPI 6.5), or MSc (Electronics) with a valid GATE/NET/SLET score, or a four-year Bachelor’s degree with 65% marks (CPI 7.0).
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS): Master’s degree in Economics, Linguistics, or related disciplines with at least 55% marks, with preference given to NET-JRF-qualified candidates.
  • Science and Mathematics (S&M): Master’s or technical degree (MA/MSc/MTech) in Mathematics or Statistics with 60% marks or a CPI of 6.5.

Candidates need to pay the hostel and mess fees only after joining the hostel. The hostel rent is charged on a pro-rata basis, amounting to ₹13,750/- for a six-month semester. Additionally, an advance mess fee of ₹24,000/- is required for the same period.
