NIT Nagaland is inviting applications for PhD Admission. Candidates can apply by submitting the filled-in PhD Application form along with the application fee receipt via post to the NIT Nagaland campus before the last date.

NIT Nagaland PhD Eligibility
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree in a relevant area with a minimum First class and CGPA/CPI of 6.5 or above or 60 % marks.
- Candidates with MS by Research in Engineering/ BS+MS (5-year integrated course) from CFTI or equivalent degree, with minimum First class and CGPA/CPI of 6.5 or above or 60 % marks are eligible.
- For Integrated PhD Programme admission:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines with a minimum CGPA of 8.5 or 80 percent of marks and a valid GATE score.
- If the qualifying B.E. / B.Tech. degree is from an IIT / NIT or any Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) with a CGPA of 8.5 or 80 percent of marks, then the valid GATE score requirement shall be exempted.
- Candidates awaiting their final year results are also eligible to apply for all the programs subject to the submission of passing certificates, meeting all the above eligibility criteria at the time of admission at the institute.
- A relaxation of 5% Marks is provided to candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.
NIT Nagaland PhD Admission Key Points
- Integrated Ph.D. Programme is only applicable to all the engineering departments in full-time mode.
- Candidates can apply for more than one specialization but should apply separately for each specialization with a separate application fee.
- For Admission to Interdisciplinary Research, the candidate must submit their research plan in about 250 to 300 words along with their application.
- Candidates can attach their academic profile, if required along with the application form, Academic profile must include the following information:
- Details of publications/conference papers
- Awards, patents, prizes, etc.,
- Other activities
- Employed candidates must submit a relieving certificate from the employer at the time of admission to full-time Ph.D.
- Preference will be given to those candidates with valid GATE / NET scores.
- The date and time of the written test/interview for the shortlisted candidates will be declared on the institute's website.
- Only full-time candidates with GATE score / UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) in order of merit will be considered for institute scholarship subject to the availability of funds.
