Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur, conducted a one-day NPTEL Awareness Workshop on January 31, 2026, at the Auditorium, Technology Block, in association with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The workshop aimed to familiarise students and faculty with national-level online courses offered under the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning and to promote opportunities for high-quality digital education.
The workshop began with participant registration, followed by the arrival of dignitaries and a formal inauguration marked by the ceremonial lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana at Vivekananda Global University. Distinguished guests were honoured on the occasion, and the workshop kit was officially released.
Ms Bharti Sakpal was honoured by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N. D. Mathur, while Ms Nisha Thakur was felicitated by Prof. (Dr.) D. V. S. Bhagavanulu, Pro-President of Vivekananda Global University. In his welcome address, Prof. Mathur underscored the importance of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, noting that it allows students to learn from top academicians across the country while accessing globally benchmarked education. University Patron M. R. Bagaria and Prof. Bhagavanulu also highlighted the growing significance of digital learning, skill enhancement, and platforms like NPTEL in today’s academic landscape.
In a special address, Prof. Sridhar Iyer from the Centre for Educational Technology at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay spoke about the NPTEL framework, its academic relevance, and future directions. During the first technical session, Ms Bharti Sakpal, Senior Project Officer, National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, presented an in-depth overview of NPTEL Online Courses, including course cycles, certification processes, credit transfer, and other key initiatives.
The second session highlighted Local Chapters, SPOC operations, and other National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning initiatives, offering participants hands-on insights into making the most of these programs. An interactive Q&A followed, with attendees actively seeking clarifications. Later, Dr Arvind Singh, Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Vivekananda Global University, shared perspectives on the university’s online and distance learning framework and its alignment with NPTEL efforts.
At the closing of the programme, Dr Yogendra Pal, Head of Education Technology (CDOE) at Vivekananda Global University, conveyed thanks to all guests, speakers, and participants. The workshop wrapped up with a group photograph and a networking lunch. The event proved highly valuable for students, faculty, and research scholars, further reinforcing VGU’s ongoing commitment to digital education and academic innovation.
