- The campus is beautiful and heartful. The greenery and location make it a very peaceful and a great place to be. Social gatherings or not, but to be present is a slice of life experience.
- The library consists of so many books from so many different subjects that it might upset you that you can't finish them all. From literature enthusiasts to curious minds, one would never want to step outside the library also including books that are not available anywhere else and can definitely not be found for sale.
- The course curriculum of the ug program is very diverse and provides students with the option to still explore and analyse and do what they like more instead of pushing them to a certain trade forever.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure, though not very well developed and up to date in lecture halls and classrooms but construction of new lecture theatres is underway right now. The laboratories and departments are very well developed for research purposes but the facilities for ug students are comparatively below par
- The faculty constitutes of some of the best minds in the country with immense knowledge and precise idea of their respective fields. Though these people are great scientists and researchers but they are just not good enough teachers.
Remarks :
I had appeared for the ICAR exam to gain admission to this university but now one must appear in the CUET exam to gain admission here. If one has prepared for NEET or JEE then the exam would not be very difficult to crack. The cut-off for normal seats goes very high, as low as the 90 percentile but those seats are limited and less, and the self-financed seats can have a cut-off as low as 65 percentile. For admission, a notification is announced on the university website after the results of the CUET exam and counselling is done in separate phases in which the students can appear. All students are free to appear in any rounds of counselling.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is varied and diverse, and very useful in prospects. The course consists of subjects based on the practical implementation of agricultural practices ranging from agronomy, horticulture, forestry etc, to research-based development of the field including pathology, entomology, soil, bio pesticides etc to even technology-based courses like GIS, meteorology, food processing and engineering and also the transfer of new development in the field to the common people like extension, sociology, economics. Overall the course curriculum is good and provides an option to pursue different fields even after graduation The faculty, though knowledgeable, are mostly researchers and scientists and there is a lack of professors well versed in the art of teaching. Mostly one has to study by themselves but the courses are not very difficult
Internships Opportunities :
There is a mandatory internship program in the 4th year for all agriculture students spanning over the whole year in which one sem is in the university itself and one in the university KVKs around the state. Apart from that, no internship opportunities are provided by the university to UG students. The stipend of the mandatory internship depends on the sale of products by the students themselves.
Placement Experience :
Though there are campus placements offered to students, the offers are not very lucrative for students. The agriculture-based companies coming to the campus offer low salaries and the eligibility criteria for placement also do not exist. Though there are many job opportunities for agriculture students given the diversity in courses like field work, research work, banking etc. Government job opportunities like AEO and ADO, forestry department of the administrative services, NBARD etc. One can also wish to pursue Agribusiness management which is a specialisation course in MBA meant for agriculture students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The total fee of the program is about 25000 per year along with other fee add-ons like Library and sports facilities etcetera and the students applying for self-financed seats are deemed to pay an extra 80000 per year. So the total fees of a general category student add upto around 60000 per year along with an additional 80000 (only for self-financed) The category students also barely have a reduction of not more than around 10k a year The fee structure, though hefty for a government institute, is still much more affordable than a private university in India. A normal BSc degree in a private institute would be more expensive than this. Scholarship programs are available separately for ICAR-nominated students mostly from other states and a merit scholarship for the ICAR exam toppers. Apart from this, the hostel fee structure is about 19000 per year including all charges like servants and electricity but mess bills are separate and paid monthly.
Campus Life :
The campus is as beautiful as it could get. On the foothills of the Himalayas surrounded by trees, fields and greenery all around. There are different social clubs for many different activities and many cultural programs are organised now and then. Many different seminars and educational programs also take place on the university campus like the Kisan Mela. The fest, also known as the Agri Night is conducted once a year by students though the dates may vary as the schedule was disturbed due to COVID. Social groups like The Pluggers (music group) and Agro-club, though under the authorities but run by students are also very active in different events. Sports are predominant with different events taking place now and then but the most popular is the Sports and athletics meet occurring once a year between all 4 colleges of the university. Teams also go for all India sports events. The library is heaven for readers, literature enthusiasts and curious minds. All sorts of subjects are available.
Hostel Facilities :
To apply for a hostel, one must contact the Students' Welfare Office where the hostel fees per semester are deposited at the time of registration and then a monthly mess bill is to be paid at the hostel. The mess can be either cooperative (run by students) or on a contractual basis depending on the hostel you have opted for. Mostly freshers are allotted a separate hostel and are then shifted to other hostels when they pass their 1st year. The hostel rooms are large and spacious accommodating 2-3 students per room for UG and single separate rooms are allotted to PG students. The hostels have wifi facilities and automatic machines for laundry.

placement are good many cse students have package in crores i think cse nad ece branch is good but other branch package is around 10 lakh if i would suggest students i suggest go for cse or ece branch because in the era of artificial intelligence nad machine learning these two branches are booming and the package are also best in these branches you can also try for gate exam after the civil mechanical or electrical you can get jib in public plus private jobs
