All you need to know about IIT Ropar beforehand.
Remarks :
Like other IITs, this one is also one of the prestigious engineering colleges in India. Being ranked 22nd in recent NIRF rankings, it does offer great opportunities to the student sharpening their analytical, technical, social, and industrial skills. The admission process is straightforward: clear jee advanced, get Josaa counseling done, and get admitted through the process. It doesn't take any GD or written test for admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
So first of all, I think anyone who is preparing for IIT should think of pursuing CS from any of these iits. But the reality is often cruel, forcing them to choose other departments due to high competition. So-called circuital branches come next after CS & IT. I had also a keen interest in physics subject especially 12-grade physics (Electrical and magnetics subjects). So, I considered pursuing electrical from IIT Ropar. The faculty of the IIT Ropar is really good. They all have a good grasp of their courses and can convey their knowledge and skills to the students. They consist of experienced as well as young talented faculties who teach with passion and courage. Each semester, they conduct two major examinations which are mid-sems and end-sems. Difficulty is of course on the tougher side, making you think out of the box and bringing out the engineering self, but yeah, one can score good grades if they study properly. Also, they give some assignments & projects.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship process is also the same as that of placements. Around 50-60% of students got on-campus interns and the rest off campus at a stipend. Currently, I don't have any intern but hopefully will get one around this semester.
Placement Experience :
Placements are decent. Being an IIT, many top recruiters like JPMC, DeShaw, Sprinklr, Oracle, Google, Microsoft, etc recruit students at a decent package. Generally, the cutoff cg is around 7 but may differ for different branches and companies. Companies offer Placement in all the 3 domains i.e. core, SD, and non-core( product, management & marketing). Around 90% of students get placed last year with the average being 16lpa and the highest package of 80lpa.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Net fees are around 2.28 lakhs yearly with tuition fees being 1 lakh and the remaining being miscellaneous. One can avail of financial aid scholarships under different income categories of their parent. It covers the partial or whole tuition fees. Also, category-wise scholarships are awarded to SC & ST students. These students get 100% scholarships on tuition fees. Other nonacademic scholarships are also available for students from different societies around the country. They usually offer monetary scholarships or a discounted scholarship on mess and hostel charges. The fees are increasing per year due to new infrastructure and inflation ig. One student can only avail, at max, one nonacademic scholarship over the entire B. Tech program.
Campus Life :
Being a new campus, the life that it holds is stunning. Fascinating landscapes: The Sutlej river, Foothills of Mountains, etc are visible from the campus. The Four pillars depicting the Harappa civilization, the DNA structure, and the course of the SAB, all the infrastructures are a treat to watch for. Every department has its building, Auditorium, LHC, Sports Complex, Library, etc all are well-maintained and beautiful. LHC has all the amenities required for a modern classroom. Projectors, green boards, white boards, charging ports, LAN ports, etc all are available for the students and faculties. There are a total 5 fests conducted in various months across a year:- Zeitgeist (Cultural fest): Oct-Nov Advitiya (Technical Fest): Jan-Feb Aarohan (Sports Fest): March Malhar (Literary Fest): April Revanche (Gaming Fest): Nov-Dec The mentorship program or ISMP is conducted for freshers in July-Aug.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel fees are 6000 per year and Mess fees are around 32-33k per year (140 per day). Newly joined students have to submit a security fee (around 11k, which may increase in upcoming years) along with mess and hostel charges. It is a one-time payment that is returned after completing the degree. Registration for a hostel is done on the same day or the next day of academic registration and is pretty straightforward. One has to fill in the required details and get a room. That's it. For this year onwards, day schooling is also offered in which one can rent a PG or take hostels outside the campus. The rent is around 10k for single rooms near the city around 6km from campus. But there are a decent amount of rooms in the hostel to accommodate all the students. Everything is quite affordable here as there is almost no city life. Chandigarh is around 50km from the campus. But yeah, essential amenities are available inside the campus itself or in the city of Rupnagar(Ropar) itself.

To apply for placements in LPU you need to have 6+cgpa mostly. there no company as i know that went without recruiting any student. the highest was on campus was 51.03lakhs Microsoft and average was 5-6 lakhs. the students around 85 %will be placed .my plan was to do a decent job in any MNC.
Life at cgc landran.
Placement Experience :
Placement at CGC landran is decent around 70 to 80% student got placed based on your skills. The eligibility criteria usually includes minimum 60% marks with no active backlogs. Top recruiter companies includes TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini. The average package is around 3-4 lpa while highest package can go up to 10 to 12 lpa. Multiple offers are made every year across different domain.

Internships Opportunities :
I haven't done any intenship yet but Yes, internships are available at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali. Companies include TCS, Infosys, startups. Roles: Web Dev, QA, Data Analyst. Stipend ?5k–15k. Tasks include coding, testing, and project work.

The eligibility for placement is no backlog or reappear and CGPA IS above is 6 and fresher they get placement for 6thsem based on the skills and knowledge of the student and they provide a salary of 3 to 12 lakhs per/ year and recently SPICEJET company give around 8 lakhs CTC for 5 to 8 students and my plans after competing the degree is to do higher education in design modeling.

As the course is designed for pharmaceutical industry so the companies like mankind, sunpharma, macloid, overseas etc. Are top recruiters. The average package is 3-3.5 lakh per annum and highest goes upto 4lpa. As after masters most of the students goes for higher studies and teaching so the placement rate is low.

Since the college comes under an institution it opens the gate for various company and even those which just require a graduation degree instead of a specific field. Cadila Lupin etc visits every year. Good 60 to 70 students gets placed.

The placement are good but there are a lot of criterias for the placement and the college faculties force us to take the placement in the development roles to show that the college has 100% placement.There are less companies for the consultancy or data based jobs. The college doesn't provide any on campus intership. They provide intership in the college Startups and they pay very very less and they exploit the interns as lot. I got only 500 rupees for doing 1 month internship and working 6 hours a week.
