Likes
- The college is the oldest college of northeast and I feel proud to be a member of this college and the infrastructure is also quite good and work is going on to make the campus far more beautiful than today.
- The campus life is one of the best thing of this college as I have mentioned before.
Dislikes
- The older faculty is retiring and no permanent and quality teachers are provided by the government.
- The road to our college is very bad moreover our college is in the outskirts of the city so it is difficult for us to go to city although buses are provided.
Remarks :
Yes I sat for common entrance examination held by ASTU where I secured 91 rank all over assam. It is a competitive examination held for Students of Assam to get admission to engineering colleges of Assam
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose this course because I have interest in engineering and this is the top engineering college in Assam after iitg and nuts The faculty members are Highly qualified having both m tech and doctorates In a semester college holds three mid terms before the end semester and they are timely and the difficulty goes on increasing as we proceed towards the third mid term.
Internships Opportunities :
As I am a 2nd year student so I have done only the social internship but in near future I shall involve myself in various projects and internships. According to our university three internship should be done social, academic and lastly industrial.
Placement Experience :
The eligibility criteria is simple you shouldn't have any active back in any semester otherwise the criteria varies company to company. Indian oil, powergrid,Ashok Leyland,tvs, Mahindra,NRL,Apdcl,etc 4lpa average package and it may go upto 14lpa based on your ability. Around 70% students get placement every year. I will sit for government exams if I don't get a good offer or shall do MTECH
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Yearly admission fees is around 15000 Hostel fees is around 6000 Monthly mess dues around 2800 End semester registration fees around 1500 Yearly admission fees is 14000 where all our lab, development and transportation fees are covered.
Campus Life :
The campus life is really mesmerizing not only because of the various events the college organises but also because in the evening we all hostelers along with our seniors come out to have high tea where we can discuss our personal problems and enjoy. Regarding fest we organise our tech fest named as pyrokinesis in February,it is four day event where other college students also participate. Regarding sports there are many interhostel matches also intercollege matches where you can participate if you are good in some sport. There are multiple clubs in our college where they can join but among them only few clubs are active throughout the year
Hostel Facilities :
The food quality is not as good as home but yes it is manageable with time.Menu- in a week you have chicken for two days,fish for two days,egg curry one day and paneer curry one day.it is important to note that no high tea is provided in hostel. You can register for hostel only during the admission process. It is quite affordable as I have mentioned it above about the mess dues Yes there are many students who opts for rented room or pg but my personal preference is hostel because hostel life is amazing.

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.
