Merits and Demerits of College and Hostel Life.

- I don't like anything such in this college. I just got three good friends and very good companion for rest of my life.
- There is lack of proper infrastructure in this college which needs to be seriously worked upon and campus life is average...
Dislikes
- The lift never works properly during the college hours, no adequate drinking water facility in the main building, classrooms are not properly ventilated.
- Washroom is never cleaned or maintained. Only few departments gets preference.
Remarks :
The reason I choose this college because i did not perform well in my JEE examinations in 2023, then my parents told me to appear for WBJEE examination which is conducted by State Government. There also I got very poor rank so I couldn't get my preferred college. So I came to Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose B. Tech in Information Technology because my hobby is to make web and android development using various programming languages. There are some good professors in our college who hold PhD degrees from good colleges but many teachers have less knowledge about the subject. Exams are held every 5 months and the difficulty of the exams are very tough. Many students get backlogs in their semester exams.
Internships Opportunities :
Only fourth year students in our college gets the internship opportunities in our college. Only the Electrical Engineering Department students gets the internships from Chittranjan Loco works where Vande Bharat along with other trains are manufactured, students also get the internship from Durgapur Steel Plant. See the site and write a report on whatever you have seen.
Placement Experience :
You must clear all your backlogs before appearing for any campus hiring companies. A few visited recruiters include Cognizant, Capgemini, TCS Ninja, TCS Digital. The highest package offered by our college is Rs 9 LPA and lowest goes to Rs 1 LPA which is a shame. 50% of the students get placement. I am planning for doing Masters from IIM.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fee is Rs 1,21,000/-, Development fee Rs 18,000/-,Examination fee Rs 2,400/-, Library fee Rs 1500/-, Student Welfare Fund Rs 1,000/-, Admission fee Rs 10000, Caution Money Rs 10000, MAKAUT Student Development Fund Rs 2,200/-, MAKAUT registration fee Rs 500, Prospectus with form Rs 1,000, Dress Kit Rs 5900/-, Total (without hostel) Rs 1,78,000/- and Total (With Hostel) Rs 2,41,700. All the above mentioned fee were yearly fee.
Campus Life :
There are two fests conducted in our college- Tech Fest and Cultural Fest. Both fests are held in the month of January. Apart from this, there are some welcome events for some festivals such as Durga Puja which is known as 'Agomoni'. There is 'Central Library' in our college which have plenty of books. There are absolutely no amenities in our classroom. There are many sports in our college but a particular sport is not conducted the entire year except 'The Karate Club'. Clubs such as Music, Cyber Security, Students' Chapter.
Hostel Facilities :
The menu in our 'Satyen Bose Hall of Residence For Boys' Hostel set by 4th year. The food quality is extremely horrible. The menu is fixed for a year. There is no change and improvement. Everyone gets the hostel as this is the private college. Chittranjan Boys Hostel is allocated in 1st year and rest years are in Satyen Bose. The washroom condition in Satyen Bose is the worst. The hygienic conditions of the washroom is extremely poor. UNPAINTED WALLS, BROKEN DOORS, DIRTY BASINS.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure
Placement Experience :
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

Placement Experience :
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
