OVERVIEW OF GCET JAMMU
Likes
- The library is well built.The teachers are very highly qualified ,polite,helpful and decent.
- The campus life is good but you need to a wonderful group of friends.I like the greenery and openarea inside the college especially in the winters.
Dislikes
- The faculty is careless in informing about upcoming events such as TCS codevita . The infrastucture isn't good at all.
- The campus isn't maintained at all.Sports infrastrucutre isn't good at all as it needs to be built from the scratch.The campus life is ok types only.There is no proper canteen inside the campus.
Remarks :
The good aspects are that the faculty of our computer department is wonderful,i.e, very highly qualified,polite and very helpful,the labs are well built,the campus is quite spacious. The bad aspects are that the campus hasn't been built well, the infrastructure hasn't been maintained since the college is built,the thinking and mentality of the students is worst,sports infrastructure is worst despite a big sized cricket playground but it is under progress. The admission takes place through the JKCET entrance examination which is being conducted by JKBOPEE in the month of may or june every year.After that,colleges are alloted to the students in the counselling rounds based upon their merit,i.e,rank in the JKCET examination.The counselling rounds take place at the JKBOPEE office. I didn't had to prepare for JKCET because due to covid,the counselling rounds were conducted on the basis of merit list of class 12th score and JKCET wasn't conducted.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because computer science is the base for the latest emerging technologies in the market such as ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE , MACHINE LEARNING , ROBOTICS , DEEP LEARNING , DATA SCIENCE. All the faculty members are well qualified.They all have done their M.TECH degree and above, i.e ,P.H.D from the reputed institutes of india such as BITS PILANI. All the faculties teach well especially DR.SIMMI DUTTA,DR. BHAWNA SHARMA and DR.JYOTI MAHAJAN. The term exams are conducted once in every 6 months and the difficulty level is 6/10 as most questions are from previous year question papers.
Internships Opportunities :
I opted for internship at CIIIT,TATA TECHNOLOGIES in my 4th semester and at CRIME DEPARTMENT OF POLICE in th 6th semester. In 4th semester, I made a project named WEATHER MONITOR based on IOT(INTERNET OF THINGS) at CIIIT. There are mostly online internships being offered by our college and the offline ones are just one or two.
Placement Experience :
The placement and job oppurtunities at our college are very less.Most of the students have to go for off-campus placements. The eligibility criteria for placements is that the student shouldn't have any back in any subject in any of the semesters until that are held till that time. There is only one recruiter,i.e, PISOFT. The highest package offered is 300000/- per annum and the average being 150000/- per annum. The percentage of students getting placed is 2 percent.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The year wise fees being paid varies from year to year due to variation in the fees of individual semesters in a particular year. The total fees for a semester varies from 14000/- to 20000/- and is same for everyone irrespective of their category. Their is no difference between the fees being paid by my batchmates and me. Their are scholarship options for the students.A student can apply for it via the NSP(NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PORTAL) via the PRIME MINISTER'S SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME which includes scholarships for wards of paramilitary personal and scholarship for girls.
Campus Life :
Two fests are conducted every year.They are the holi fest and the diwali fest.They are held in the month of March and November respectively. The library is well built in our college.All the books and journals are available in the library with latest content.The classrooms are equipped with false ceilings which keeps the classroom cool.Also,they are equipped with smart boards which makes the teaching interactive and interesting. Sports infrastructure is being improved now.All thanks to DR. VIKESH KUMAR who isthe real man behind improving all the sports infrastructure. We have a social group such as NSS(NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME),clubs such as INFOMANIAC club,startup club,SIH(SMART INDIA HACKATHON) club.

Placement Experience :
Placements in our college are average only, not very high but not zero also. Few companies come every year for campus recruitment, like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and some local construction firms. They mostly offer roles like junior engineer, site supervisor or trainee. Highest package was around 8 LPA for IT profile, average goes between 3-4 LPA. Almost 50-60% students get placed from campus, rest students go for off campus or higher studies. Eligibility for placement is you need minimum 6.5 CGPA and no active backlogs, also they check communication skills in interviews. No big mass recruiters like in IITs, but still some opportunities are there if you prepare well. If not getting placed through campus, I plan to try off campus drives and also thinking to prepare for govt exams or maybe do M.Tech. College do conduct some training sessions and mock interviews but main thing depends on self preparation.

Placement Experience :
Here almost 95% students got placed.average salary is around 6-7 lpa.Companies like wipro,infuses,bhel visited here.my plan after degree is to do mtech from iits. Highest package is around 45 lakhs (off campus). On campus it is around 25 lpa.

Course Curriculum Overview :
I am always moved by my college’s course curriculum which is multicultural and gives students a wide range of choices. The courses are demanding but the lecturers are always ready to provide support and counsel. It is affordable to all through scholarships and fair fees.
Placement and college life at IIT Jammu
Placement Experience :
Eligibility criteria for placement depends on the company, majorly all companies asks for minimum CGPA of 7 or 7.5. Some past major companies which comes for recruitment are amazon, sprinklr, paytm, nvidia, ICICI bank, HDFC bank, maruti suzuki etc. According to 2023 data, highest package offered was 53 LPA, average package offered was 18 LPA, minimum package was 5 LPA. Percentage of students get placed in 2023 is 85%. My plans after getting the degree is to either works on corporate or to prepare for UPSC.

quality of teaching is crucial, instructor give their best in the class and class strength is divides in two section according their enrollment number.i think fees is affordable and fees waiver for different category.
My University Life In The University of Kashmir.
Placement Experience :
The eligibility criteria for the placements of jobs was 65% in the grade card if graduation. The recruitment process was followed by a job examination and job interview. Cipla, SKIMS were some of the recruiters that visited the university and offered almost 15 jobs. The average package offered by the recruiters was 40-70 thousands per month. And the highest package offered by the recruiters was 1.1 Lakh per month. In this recruitment process almost 40% students got placements. I got a private job in a private pharmacy company. Now, I have chosen this job as my carrier after getting the degree.

Placement Experience :
There were no job or placement opportunities available and it didn’t bothered the college. The main aim of the students as well included to just pass the degree and get out of there. Faculties also discouraged about the job market scenario outside the college which alleviated the trouble.

Previously there was 100% on campus placement in university but now it's only somewhat 70%. Companies come for placement also they select students but most of time it sells based company not a product based company also they offer quit low packages. Most of students try off Campus Placement where they get some good offers. Average package is about 5-7 lakh
