I chose this college due to its reputation and emerging as one of the Top Hotel Management College in India. It is a Central Government College and ranks itself among the TOP 5 Hotel Management Colleges in India. In order to enter this college we have to give a Joint Entrance Exam - NCHMCT JEE conducted by NTA, it is a computer based test where people fight for good ranks alike other JEE exams, the better the rank the better the college, if you were a general candidate you have to score a rank within 2500 in order to get IHM Kolkata, and if you are a SC/ST you can get it if your rank is within 15000, this is one of the bad points that should be rectified the rank difference between general and SC/ST is huge. Sometimes direct admission is also taken by college when seats remain vacant after GD and PI.
This course is a professional course which gives you hands on practical experience if you are interested into hotels and retails and also this is a B.sc degree which means you will complete your graduation along with this. We had very learned and qualified facilities who not only had good educational qualifications but also had practical experience from hotels in various fields, Most of the teachers completed their masters, few wer doing PhD also. We had 2 Exams every semester - 1 was Mid Term Exam which was conducted by college and the other was Term End Exam along with Practical Exam which was conducted by NCHMCT the affiliated board. Every odd semester we also had to give another exam conducted by IGNOU. I would rate the difficulty of exams be 6/10. If you would study few days before exam you could score good marks except for the practical for which you needed practice.
We had to undergo 4 months of intership in a 3 star - 5 star hotel during our 2nd year. I had done my internship from ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata. We were made to work on 4 department- Food Production, House Keeping, Front Office, Food and Beverage Service. We had to work on each department for 1 month each during our training. We were made to do the task of the lowest hierarchy do get our basics strong such as making of room, working as a bell boy, back office work in front office, cutting vegetables, serving, sorting cloths and etc. The poor thing was we had shifts of 12 hours and our stipend was of ?2000.
Our college boasts of 100% Placements and it stands to its commitment, you may not get the desired package but you won't ever lack behind in placement as you will get placed for sure. Placement is based on personal skills such as grooming and fluency in English and knowledge about the concerned department in which you are opting for. Various popular Hotels such as ITC, Oberoi, The Park, Taj Hotels and etc have come for their placement and coming to retails giants like Reliance, Aditya Birla, Starbucks, Taco Bell, Dominos, Woodland Hospitals, Myntra and etc have come for recruitment. The average package ranged in between ?250000 - ?275000 per annum and the highest package was offered by Starbucks of ?450000 per annum.

For the 1st Sem the fees was - ?77125 which included Admission Fee, Enrollment Fee, Tution Fee, IGNOU Fee (?12700 taken every odd semester), Exam Fee, Caution Money and Institutional Fee. The campus life was amazing, you will be able to meet people from all over India who came to study here, most importantly it was a ragging free campus. We also had Sports Week and the Largest Food Fest of Eastern India named as Gourmet Nite - it is usually conducted during the month of January or February every Year. We had a seperate library which was huge in size and had every books related to the course and also for outer knowledge, renting of books were very easy. Our College had a large ground for playing football and cricket and also an basketball and badminton court. People who were interested in dance had music or other co- curricular activities had a great luck as our College had every musical instruments and things of art and craft and also a room for dancing. People could either come in their free time or we had a period for co- curricular activities once a week. We didn't have any particular group or club, it changed every year.
I have not opted for hostel as my home was nearby but hostel facility is available in the college campus itself. As this is a hotel management college students staying at hostel had to make their own food in turns for the whole hostel. The fees of hostel was based on the type of rooms such as sharing with attached bathroom or common bathroom. The fees ranges from 25000 to 30000 per semester which included Accomodation fee and Meal Charges.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
