- College infrastructure is very good despite being so old .faculties are really experienced and dedicated .it is a multispeciality hospital so yeah you will get every medical facility here and college buildings are also great with acs and lifts and a huge auditorium and huge lecture theatres.
- Campus is not so big but since it is situated in main city ,it has it’s own perks plus the travel is so easy here.it just costs 10 rupees and you can travel 10 kms or any distance by bus in kolkata .the college ,the city is really affordable
Dislikes
- College as it associated with a hospital and that too with a huge patient load is ofcourse dirty but yeah it’s all manageable.
- Campus life is not so good because it’s not that big.neither we have our own ground.but yeah we have a ground nearby where sports activities are performed.
Remarks :
Admission is given through neet exam .is you qualify neet exam with a good rank then you may get admission.it is asia’s first private medical college established in 1886 and then made government in 1916. It is a superspeciality hospital and college with more than a century of history. The rank needed to get this college is around 7-8 k which may vary .
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because i wanted to become a doctor. The faculties are expert doctors and they teach really well.But still medicine is all about self study and self directed learning. The exams are all timely arranged and difficulty level is obviously high because it’s mbbs.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship is a part of mbbs so it’s mandatory for everyone with a stipend of 32 k per year.it is a rotatory internship which provides you experience in every branch of mbbs and let’s you decide what you want to pursue in pg.internship is very good here because we have a huge patient load.
Placement Experience :
You become a Mbbs doctor so placement is obvious and everyone gets placed.either they clear pg entrance or they get settled somewhere.my plan is to get pg degree and then become a full fledged specialist doctor.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees is 6500per year.For state quota students ,there is scholarship given to eligible students of 60k . For aiq and state both students,another scholarship is given to needy one’s of 2 lakh You don’t need to pay fees if you don’t want to .your fees will then be taken from first month internship stipend.The stipend here is one of the highest in the country that is of 32 k which increases by 1.5k every year.
Campus Life :
Campus is not so big but it is situated in main kolkata city so yeah a big advantage than any other medical college. Fest name is lobelia generally conducted in july august. Books are always available in library and you can study there comfortably. Sports week is organised plus we also have a talented music society.you can get friends of same mentality here and you can ofcourse pursue extra curricular.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel are average as it is an old government medical college.yet the rooms are spacious with occupancy of four.mess is not provided and you have make arrangements which is easy.hostel fees is 12 rupees per month.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
