- The Main Field and Hostel Culture and bonding between seniors and juniors
Dislikes
- The Academics is quite lengthy and Stressful.
- The Strictness of Administration towards fields which are not related to Academics like Cultural, Sports etc.
Remarks :
In order to get admitted here , we need to clear Assam CEE examination. Total marks of CEE is 480 and safe score for all categories is 120+. The admission process is very smooth with documents verification and hostel Allocation being done during admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Computer Science is a demanding branch and hence I choosed it. Moreover, I am interested towards Cyber Security, so I choosed it. The Faculties are well qualified but the Faculties to Students ratio is less. The exams are held on time , sessionals after each month and End Semester. Examination process is strict and quality of questions asked is moderate.
Internships Opportunities :
We don't have a lot of internship opportunities. Infact , Internship may be cracked but they are mostly unpaid ,just for experience. Internships may be cracked from college connections in Local Tech Companies and PSUs .
Placement Experience :
Students after getting into 7th semester become eligible for placements. 3rd year students get internships too. Few visited recruiters include TCS,DISH TECHNOLOGY,PWC , Vedanta Mining, PSUs like NRL, OIL etc. Highest package is around 18 Lakhs CTC in PSU and average package is around 4.5 Lakhs. Around 50-60% students got placed in 2024. My plans after the degree is preparing for Civil Services.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The Total fee for an odd semester is Rs5500 and even semester is Rs3500. One time admission fee is Rs1000. Moreover, there is an examination fee of Rs1500 for each semester exam. There is some concession for economically backward classes. There are scope for scholarships like IshanUday for annual parents income less than 4.5lakhs and NER Scholarship of around 22,000 pear year.
Campus Life :
Campus life is awesome. I didn't realised, How these 4 years passed . There is an annual fest Phoenix. It is three days fest with lots of activities. The library has lots of book and it is one of the best library of Assam. Classroom amenities are sufficient. Exposure to sports is good if you are a hosteller with games like Interhostel Cricket, football, volleyball,chess, badminton and so on. We also have a lot of clubs like Roboworld, Fotokraft, Avant Garden for craft, GDSC, GLUG etc.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel are very affordable with monthly fee of around 2000. The hostel message is managed by Hostel Monitors. The food quality and type depends on the boarders of hostel. There are proper cook in hostels . Hostel has gym and library too.

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs
Placement Experience :
There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

I forever had a dream of starting a business by myself as I come from a business background I also wanted to help my father in his work , I wanted to grow my father's business by just putting technical efforts so this is the reason I chooses commerce Teachers are of very friendly nature and helpful If you attend regular college you won't face any difficulties in exams
Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

You must get more than 7 CGPA to sit in the placement. TCS, L&T, Jacobs etc and the highest package is around 21 LPA around 15% are placed every year.Iwill be doing PHd in IIT after getting my degree.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
