So this is the honest review I have shared from my 2.5 years and continuing journey
Likes
- The college campus is very big. Student can form a huge group and can roam into the whole campus and wouldn’t feel bore as the campus is big in terms of area and it covers lot of greenery.
- There is no strict attendance criteria for this college. Many colleges have a strict attendance criteria like students have to maintain a 75 percentage attendance rule but in this college students don’t have to follow such criteria.
Dislikes
- The professors or teachers of this college are very dangerous, disrespectful towards their students, not all of them, but few are very egoistic.
- Some of the classrooms in college does not have proper air conditioning equipment. So during summers, it’s really painful and really uncomfortable to attend the classes without any air conditioning.
Remarks :
I choose this college as this college is also known as the best commerce college in the entire Northeast. So this is the main reason behind joining this college. Even I know many people who passed out from this college and they are doing very well in life. they are highly settled, so this inspired me to join Into this college. I didn’t face any group discussions or interviews or written test for admission. It’s completely merit-based cut-off system.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose this course as this course is very common and it’s very useful in various field like Accounts management finance, the teachers of professors from the faculty average. Some professors are very gentle and they are very down to earth towards students in terms of behaviour, but few of them are very arrogant. When the semester starts students will appear for the sessional exam examination after 1.5 months then again after two months, students will face the semester final examination, so the whole semester is almost 4 months and it’s very hard to complete the syllabus within four months.
Internships Opportunities :
I have opted online internship opportunities which I have got from LinkedIn, but this opportunities I haven’t received from the college as this college does not provide any kind of internship opportunities to the students
Placement Experience :
Guwahati commerce College does not provide any campus placement After finishing the degree, Most of the students try for competitive exams like chartered accountant or entrance, exam of MBA , entrance exam for banking entrance, exam for civil services, etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The annual tuition fee for the BCom course at Guwahati commerce College is ?10,000 additional charges include library fees, maintenance fees, lab fee, examination, fees, etc. The total estimated fee per year is almost 12,000. Which includes all mandatory changes. Scholarships for backward cast are available for students which are economically from disadvantage backgrounds and can fully or partially cover tuition fees. The students can apply for scholarships during the admission process via the online portal and scholarships are renewed annually based on academic performance.
Campus Life :
The size of the campus is very big in as compared to other colleges in the entire city. The campus provide huge area consisting of separated canteen for students and teachers provides unisex gym also provides library ,basketball court, some greenery …during the month of February, college conduct an event named annual sports or annual week Where various indoor and outdoor games are organised and many extra curricular activities are also organised, many social groups or clubs are also available in college, mostly into the politics as student politics

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

I forever had a dream of starting a business by myself as I come from a business background I also wanted to help my father in his work , I wanted to grow my father's business by just putting technical efforts so this is the reason I chooses commerce Teachers are of very friendly nature and helpful If you attend regular college you won't face any difficulties in exams
Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

You must get more than 7 CGPA to sit in the placement. TCS, L&T, Jacobs etc and the highest package is around 21 LPA around 15% are placed every year.Iwill be doing PHd in IIT after getting my degree.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
