- NIT Silchar boasts excellent infrastructure with modern classrooms, well-equipped labs, a vast central library, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Hostels provide decent accommodation, though maintenance can be improved. The lush green campus, sports facilities, and a large auditorium enhance student life. However, occasional power cuts and water issues persist
- NIT Silchar offers a vibrant campus life with numerous clubs, cultural fests like Incandescence, and tech events like Tecnoesis. The scenic campus fosters a close-knit student community. While academics are rigorous, hostel life, sports, and late-night chai add fun. However, remote location and occasional network issues can be challenging.
Dislikes
- NIT Silchar’s remote location leads to travel difficulties and limited city exposure. Frequent power cuts, internet issues, and inconsistent hostel maintenance can be frustrating. The unpredictable weather, with heavy rains, often disrupts daily life. Administrative delays and slow grievance resolution add to student concerns despite the overall positive environment.

Hostel washrooms and water supply need improvement. The roads within the campus deteriorate during heavy rains, causing inconvenience for students, especially during monsoons.
Remarks :
The great placement is what attracts most students. Big big MNCs come for the interviews and also the cultural diversity is just amazing. NIT has is own brand value. No Group discussion interviews were there it was purely based on your percentile in jee mains and jossa councelling.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose these course which is Electronics and Communication Engineering which is the top notch branch in engineering. The faculty are great just the thing is like every engineering college the course is very old not upto how tech evolution is taking place. The exam pattern is you have mid semester exams then class test and finally end semester exam in one semester,which is very hectic but it's good for self evaluation. Difficulty level is okayish.
Internships Opportunities :
Nope, I am just a first year but what I have listened from my seniors is that many companies too visit for the internship but obviously the competition is high and those with extra skills are at ease . You have opportunities to participate in hackathon. The stipend offer vary from company to company.
Placement Experience :
During 7 semester only our seniors get placed which is great. The median package for ECE last year was 14 lakhs and highest overall package was 80 lakhs. Google Hp Microsoft and many great companies come to our college for job interviews.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tuition fees for general is 1.47 lakhs and BHM fees is 22.5k per semester. For Ews and Obc tuition fees is 31k and for ST-SC it's 11k and the BHM fees same for all. NSP is the scholarship which most of our fellow batchmates opt and the dean Sw will help to in this case so if anyone has family income less than 8 lakhs most probably they will get financial aid through these scholarships.
Campus Life :
The best thing about being in Nit Silchar is the social life. Every time you walk accross the campus you can hear the sound of any program happening be it in literature , sports , Music, tech . The tech fest is tecnoesis conducted in November and the cultural grand fest is Incandescence where great events happens all round superstar and celebrities come. It is the time you can enjoy most.
Hostel Facilities :
The girls hostel is pretty clean and the food is eatable unlike other hostels. After your admission only you are alloted rooms double triple or 4 seater according to your rank and percentile. There is freedom even for first year girls the intime is flexible. There are guards 24/7 hence safety is not compromised.

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.
