Life at Indraprastha College for women, DU
Likes
- I like the infrastructure as the campus is very beautiful with peacocks and cats being the most frequent visitors. You may also find migrating birds in the campus during the season.
- I like the student run society of the college as it is very active and encouraging to promote the college in various competitions and fests.
Dislikes
- The low exposure to the outside worlds. No male participants are allowed even during competitions.
- The timetable of the college is very unstructured with lots of breaks between the classes of like 2-3 hours.
Remarks :
You have to clear the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to get admission into Delhi University. To get admission in North campuses one needs to score above 740 atleast out of total of 800 in the test. The students can select the subjects according to their subjects in 12th grade and a list of available courses for the subjects will be provided on the website through which students can select the courses they prefer. The college is offered based on the preference list they create and the marks they score. Therefore preference list is a crucial list to get your desired college. The cut-off of my college was 750/800. After the confirmation the student can opt for freeze or upgrade. Freeze will conclude that you confirm your admission with the college you are provided. My college in Indraprastha College for Women which is under north campus of Delhi University. The only aspect it lacks is the exposure is less than that of a Co-ed college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
My course is Bachelor of commerce (Hons). I chose this because I had commerce in my 12th grade and I wanted to pursue career through Delhi University. The faculty is very professional with the course and as serious. There's no room for slacking. The teaching is done in classrooms like normal schooling. Along with the course the students have to select 4 additional papers so in total a student writes 7 papers in their semester exams. 3 papers of Domain specific course(DSC), 1 paper of general elective course (GEC)(can attain minor if same GEC is chosen consecutively for 7 semesters ), 1 paper of Ability enhancement course ( AEC), 1 paper of Skill enhancement course (SEC) and 1 paper of Value addition course (VAC). The exams are conducted timely as per the academic calendar of the university and the difficulty level was from moderate to high level.
Internships Opportunities :
No I have not opted for any internship as of yet but college conducts internship drives and events for students to explore various internship opportunities. Companies like big 4, KPMG, Deloitte , EY and PwC recruit students from our college for positions like assistant manager, salesperson, etc
Placement Experience :
The college has a placement society called JEET which helps the students in getting placements in top companies. The students can get their internships through various opportunities which keeps coming for the youth through the intership and job fairs in the college. One was recently organised on 1st of February.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The admission fees was about 33,168/- for this year for my course of BCOM (H). Along with this you have to pay average of rs 1,600 for writing the semester exams per year. Reduction in fees is provided for students belonging to backward classes. The scholarship is provided to students with a family income of less than rs8,00,000/- and with a good cuet score above 760/800 in the first year. The students should maintain their CGPA accordingly to continue gaining these benefits.The college also offer hostel facilities for these students at lower cost. It also offers to regular general students whose CGPA is above 6.5 if the CGPA is less than 6.5 the students are given notice to leave the hostel.
Campus Life :
It's a women's college and the environment is very peaceful and safe considering from the point of view of a women so the life at campus is peaceful and the campus is environment friendly. It believes in green culture therefore there are several flora and fauna in and around the campus. The campus is known for its infrastructure and the main building of the campus comes under the heritage site of New Delhi. The name of the fest is SHRUTI and is conducted between mid March to first week of April. The library is a huge source for knowledge and books anything and everything can be found in the library. The classrooms are normal with benches and fans there are no ACs. The college has a sports complex with a basketball court, badminton court, tennis court, squash room and a swimming pool. There are many student run clubs and societies like Indian music society - Alaap, National Cadet Corps society, Dramatics society - Abhivyakti, western music society - La cradenza etc.

The internship opportunities are mainly available for the commerce departments and many companies also come to offer internships here. For humanities departments to internships comes mainly from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and home ministry.

The placement cell is active. Companies like Agile Capital Services, Chegg, and Wipro visit. Eligibility requires 60%+ marks. Highest CTC offered is around 8 LPA and Average package is 4.5 LPA. Around 40-50% students get placed, while science graduates prefer higher studies (M.Sc / B.Ed). My plan is pursuing higher education and managing my student e-portfolio platform.

Placement at PGDAV college are average students who have good communication skills internships and extra certification usually gets better opportunities the placement cell is active and organise placement drives , workshops , resume building session and career building guidance student should not have any active backlog

PLACEMENT FOR BBA ARE AVERAGE WITH COMPANIES OFFERING ROLE IN SALES, MAREKTING, HR AND OPERATION. AVERAGE PACKAGE IS AROUND 3 TO 4 LAKH PER YEAR MANY STUDENTS ALSO PURSUE HIGHER STUDIES LIKE MBA TO IMPROVE THEIR CARRER OPPORTUNITIES.

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

I chose my course because I was interested in learning a business environment and management processes. Faculties are very well experienced and professional , and teaching methods are good. Term exams are held every 6 months and difficulty level is not very high .
Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college
Placement Experience :
Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.
Maitreyi college is so underrated

The placement opportunities are genuine, infact there is a dedicated placement cell in the college, companies like EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC too participate in our placement fairs and students have actually got good placements!
