Remarks :

The factor that drives the students towards this college is the tuition fees required for this program since it's a well-established government college in Assam. This college's degree is given a high weightage in the time of Off-Campus placements, which is also a good factor. To enter this college, one must clear the Common Entrance Examination, which is regulated by ASTU, a technical University based in Assam. The cut-offs vary slightly from year to year, and a rank of up to 800 may be considered good and may land a student at this college with a good program in their hands (for general people). The questions of CEE have no specific level, so one should start from the NCERT books and then proceed to go high up to JEE-level questions. CEE consists of 120 questions, 40 questions in each section (Physics, Chemistry, Maths). Each question consists of 4 marks and a wrong would result in a -1. I scored 145 marks in this exam and secured a rank of 360, which landed me here :)

Course Curriculum Overview :

The reason to chose this course is my interest in computers, and also the rising demand for it in this competitive economy. I am glad to be a part of this college as academically, this college has to be one of the finest colleges in the whole northeast region. Infrastructure is not really up to the level if I have to be honest, but JEC is trying to fix that as well. The teachers are well qualified with everyone having a Masters's Degree and the majority of them even have a Ph.D. in their domain. The exams are strictly scheduled on time, and the college tries its best to maintain that schedule. The Examinations are quite tough, but that's the essence of this degree. One can't simply get a degree here without proper knowledge. The course price has always been minimal without any significant hike, and there are various scholarship opportunities for students. The college has a separate section to handle these things. Overall, the Course Curriculum and Faculty of this college are its strengths.

Internships Opportunities :

Our college encourages students to go for internships but doesn't really "provide" students with internships. Students reach out to companies for internships. Luckily, companies pay attention to the students who belong to this College, thanks to its legacy. At the end of the First year of the Program, one has to do a Social Internship. At the end of the Second year, we have to do an Academic Internship at a different college, which is allotted to us by the college. At the end of the Third Year, we have to do an industrial internship at a company. I don't have any idea whether the college assists students in finding the internship or not. Overall, students are unlikely to find it difficult to find internships here.

Placement Experience :

Every Year, 85-90% of the total students get placed in moderate to good companies, including government jobs as well. Companies like OIL, Hexagon, Cognizant, TCS, and other good companies have visited the college with good packages. The thing is, JEC is comprised of students who are not financially strong. So they don't complain when they get a job that makes their financial condition better, even if the package may seem low. JEC tries and even manages to place every student in every branch. The Highest Package here is 18 LPA, but nothing to be disappointed with as the average package here is 6 LPA, with a median of 4-6 LPA, pretty much like an NIT. I will opt for higher studies as planned earlier. I will sit for the placement but likely will study further.

Campus Life :

The campus life here is very peaceful. The people of the North East are very sweet and friendly. Students reach out to one another for help and they always check on their friends. The Fest that is held here is called PHOENIX, and it is held in March or April. It's amazing in my honest opinion. Also, the Library of JEC has various books in it. One thing that I don't like is that the library has separate sections for General Castes and Other Castes. Like seriously, do we need that in a Library?! This is something I despise in this college. Besides that, the sports and other extracurricular activities of this college are good, ONLY if you are from Hostel. If you stay anywhere else, you won't get any chance here, especially in sports. There are different clubs here though, and those are run by students, which makes it a very good environment for one's growth. The hostel fee is 15,000 per year, and the food is not as good as the hostellers.

Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs

Placement Experience :

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My plans after my degree is to get a job in electronic domain while also focusing on my photography and editing Passion Check my work on insta sodaa.edits

My life in B.Borooah College as a science student

Placement Experience :

Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

This is one of the best colleges in our Kamrup district, students should take admission without any

Placement Experience :

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low. That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled. And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati

Placement Experience :

there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.
