- Great and supportive faculty, very cool high altitude infrastructure, gym, basketball and volleyball court, indoor sports, auditorium, IT labs with latest equipments, WiFi, we have to walk to the campus, but auto services are also available and campus has cars which can be used by the students for any emergency.
- I like the campus very much infact we spend the whole day at campus and come back at night. 4 time meals service available in our mess
Dislikes
- Wardens, and permissions to keep the important labs and areas( Resource centre) open late night for students to use
- Fees system and a lot of processes in the campus coordination and marking need a lot of time and are often late due to all the processes
Remarks :
I chose Nift because I was interested in the designing field, I cleared NID round 1 but couldn't pass round 2, I have two cousins who are Nift p and I knew about Nift, my cousins are FC and FD pass-outs respectively, I wanted to do something different so I chose Bftech., for my course which is Bftech you need to clear only one exam which GAT exam and nothing else, GAT exams consist of subjects like English, Maths, logical reasoning, case study then on basis of your score you get two types of ranks category merit rank and common merit rank, common merit rank decides your NIFT campus in which you will be studying, then according to your preference you have select campus order wise from first to last preference, then according to the rank campus is allowed, you can either choose the college and fr the seat or you can continue to sit in the next round if you think you can get a better campus, there are no such things as NIFT colleges ranks as placements are centralised.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Now my degree is Bftech(bachelor's in fashion technology) and my course is apparel production, now this course attracted me more after I came to college honestly, we are fashion and apparel technicians and are responsible for the whole manufacturing of the garment right from yarn to the selling the final product by the means of retail, e-commerce etc, This course is somewhat vast because we cover everything from garment construction, and pattern making for garments to IT, machinery and pieces of equipment and technology plus management, my faculty personally is very professional, knowledgable and understanding, teaching methods are quite conventional, and exams of the semester are taken assignment wise, mid assignment, end term assignment and final Jury in which you have to complete an assignment and present it to the jury panel, NIFT offers SARTHAK scholarship which covers fees of students according to their income status and reservations for SC/ST OBC etc.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship opportunities are pretty good, college gives you 2 referral internships through faculties, one at the end of a 2nd-year textile internship and the other at the end of 3rd year which is an Apparel internship other than this you can do i through contacts and network and do multiple inter right from 2nd year and learn about the industry mainly to add to your cv.
Placement Experience :
In my course particularly, jobs and placement opportunities are vast, packages aren't much when you start but as you gain experience the packages boost at a higher rate, at the end of the second year we have to do our first textile internship at a textile industry or mill, at the end of our third year we will have to do our apparel internship at an apparel production house or export house both of these are unpaid, in this course, networking is very important and you can do internship from outside with your network, the minimum package is 8LPA in placements, mostly we get PPO from out GP which is graduation project which we do in our 8th semester and we can either take the PPO of sit in the placements, but as placements are centralised we can go to any campus to get placements, but a company which offers us jobs are export houses and production houses or we can also work in fashion oriented IT company, manufacturing and technological operations, merchandising and retailing projects
Campus Life :
Social life is great, now there are only some Nift campuses which have boys hostel, mine doesn't, so we live in pgs and live outside the campus, girls on the other hand, are provided with hostel facilities, and we also have a mess which covers out 4-time meals, there are no clubs in Kangra as such, but we tend to find fun as it is located in Himachal it's quiet fun to study here, campus infrastructure is very beautiful, it's just a lot of walking but you have a gorgeous view of mountains, pg rates are also quite reasonable here and if one doesn't want to eat in the campus mess, have food/tiffin options outside. Talking about fest and events this college is filled with events, there is an inter-gift tournament named "Converge" which is an inter-gift sports, cultural and literary event, and then there is an event called "Spectrum" which is hosted by a gift campus and invites another college in their region, and it's also a sport, cultural and literary event and q fun

placement are good many cse students have package in crores i think cse nad ece branch is good but other branch package is around 10 lakh if i would suggest students i suggest go for cse or ece branch because in the era of artificial intelligence nad machine learning these two branches are booming and the package are also best in these branches you can also try for gate exam after the civil mechanical or electrical you can get jib in public plus private jobs
