Remarks :

It's a state state engineering college. One of the oldest engineering colleges in Assam. It takes students based on CEE (combined entrance examination). Fees are very low and if you are staying in a hostel it's just around 3k/ month. Great alumni network all across the state. Placement is purely based on your academic result so you have to work hard in your college days. Has some of the best industrial experience faculties. CSE dept. is the best comes very close to the IIT/ NIT level. To get into JEC (Jorhat Engineering College) you have to clear CEE it's the only way they don't accept you through JEE because it's a state engineering college so you have to clear CEE.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I am currently pursuing Electrical engineering as it is one of the oldest branches and JEC has some very industry-experienced professors who can help you to go further in this domain. The faculty members are very qualified with PhDs and industry experience. There are two types of exams conducted in this college 1. End semester exam ( conducted at the end of every semester) 2. Internal exam ( for internal marks conducted every month). The difficulty of the end semester is moderate but internal exams are hard as the professor has a very good habit of masking GATE-level questions in internal examinations. The fee is not that high since it's a state govt. College and also if you have an income of less than 1 lakh your fee is waived apart from that various other scholarships are also provided through NSP. Some of the scholarships like ISHAN UDAY, OBC scholarship, SC/ST scholarship, and many more

Internships Opportunities :

It's compulsory to do an internship after completing 1st year you have to do a social internship at an NGO ( conduct a survey and see if you can solve their problems). Then after completing the second year, you have to do an academic internship from various educational institutions. ( IIT, NIT, various colleges or training centers, etc) where your task is either to help professors is their thesis or help the trainers in the training center and learn from them. After completing 3rd you have to do an industrial internship from government/ private companies( these are actual field work) apart from this compulsory internship you can also do extra internships during your college days. These internships are free but they don't give any stipend, i suggest that you find some paid internship during your college days which will help you in your career.

Placement Experience :

The eligibility criteria for place is min 7 cgpa and no backlogs. For big companies, it should be min 7 cgpa and 80% in 12th. OIL, NRL, VEDANTA, IGGL, HUL, GRATIA, TECH MAHINDRA, INFOSYS, etc offers are made based on their criteria and the availability of the students with no backlogs. Almost all CSE and Instrumentation Engineering students get placed and after that, the Electrical students come second 80-90 % of offers are made, but it gets difficult for mechanical and civil students although offers are made the competition is too high. The highest package is 20 lakh and the average is 7-8 lakh. The percentage of students getting placed depends on the no. of students with cgpa more than 7 and sometimes 12th with 80% so if you calculate then it's around 40-50 % of students who are getting placed. My plans are to persure Mtech from IIT/NIT .

Campus Life :

One of the main fests is PHOENIX (tech cum music festival) it's a 3 days program and one of the best in Assam many prominent musicians and singers and celebrities will come to perform alert from that many tech-related programs are also conducted with competitors coming from all over the state to a single place. The library is huge it's a 3-story building recently built and has all the facilities. Sports activities are on another level such as interhostel football, cricket, etc. Many clubs are very active and take part in various competitions such as (DECODE. GDSC ETC.)the JEC website is both run by faculties and students. Coming to the hostel life hostels are very affordable with a fee of around 3k / month provided with LAN/ wifi modern bathrooms toilets and a playground for each hostel(total of 10 hostels ). Registration for a hostel is very simple the faculties will ask if you want a hostel or not during admission.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

While the college does not guarantee 100% corporate placement, it facilitates campus interviews and internships. Companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and Tata have rec recruited or offered internships to a percentage of students.

Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs

Placement Experience :

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My plans after my degree is to get a job in electronic domain while also focusing on my photography and editing Passion Check my work on insta sodaa.edits

My life in B.Borooah College as a science student

Placement Experience :

Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

This is one of the best colleges in our Kamrup district, students should take admission without any

Placement Experience :

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low. That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled. And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati

Placement Experience :

there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.
