Ques. For Computer Science, how does BITS Goa compare with BITS Hyderabad?
Ans. Students and alumni state that BITS Goa has become comparable with Pilani rather than Hyderabad because of recent academic development. The Goa campus has AI and ML labs planned, and these were expected to be completed before the 2020 freshers joined. Since AI and ML are important areas today, exposure to these labs can help students build stronger profiles. Some students disagree with the view that Hyderabad is better than Goa, and such claims are often made by students from the Hyderabad campus.
Goa is also known for its coding culture, and students from other BITS campuses acknowledge this. The campus has recorded the highest number of GSoC selections. Students have also heard that some good CS professors moved from the Pilani campus to the Goa campus. Students at BITS Goa do not spend all 4 years only at beaches, and academics are rigorous. Some students from Hyderabad, including girls known personally to the respondent, chose Goa over Hyderabad for a stronger peer group. Startups associated with the Goa campus include Codedman, Clinify, and Postman, with Postman being the most established one.
Ques. What hostel facilities are available at BITS Goa?
Ans. From 2018 onward, most first-year students at BITS Goa have received double-sharing rooms. Students and alumni describe the hostels as very neat, clean, and well maintained. The washrooms are mostly western style, with 10 toilets and 10 bathrooms on each floor. Hot water is available through the day and night. In some hostels, students get a double-sharing room with a cot, large almirah with mirror, table, chair, whiteboard, and additional storage racks. Rooms are spacious enough for 10 to 12 people to gather. Electricity and internet facilities are good, though recent power cuts have been reported. The common rooms are larger than those in senior hostels and include a TT table, carrom, chess, and a TV with cable. There is also ample open space between hostels.
Ques. What advantages do students mention about BITS Goa?
Ans. Based on student and alumni feedback, the following advantages are often associated with studying at BITS Goa:

There are a lot of opportunities in terms of both internships and placements, many companies visit the campus during the placement season and offers a decent package. The college provides us with a facility called the practice school where the campus brings in internship opportunities for us.
Read Full ReviewI chose msc bio because it is easier as compared to other Mac courses, and Mac courses gives us choose BE course in 2nd year based on cgpa. Every faculty is phd qualified from great institutions like iisc and many other foreign universities. Exams are conducted as mid sems and end sems with approx 2 quizzes each subject.
There are certain minimum cgpa barriers for sitting for particular companies. Top Recruiters: Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, etc. Average Package: ?20-25 LPA for CSE/IT; ?10-15 LPA for core branches. Highest Package: Over ?50 LPA (often for tech roles). Read Full ReviewComputer Science is the most sought after for obvious reasons. Faculty members here are very well educated and helpful, just that grading during the exams can be a bit harsh for some as it is relative and not absolute. Also, difficulty level of mid and end-semester examinations is good, quite an IIT level thing.
Student should have completed two practice schools, one at the end of 2nd year and other in one of the semesters of the final year. Also, there are minimum CG requirements which vary over time for sitting in certain interviews. Median package is around 23 lacs.
Read Full ReviewI am genuinely interested in Electronics department and chose this course because of that. The grading for this course at BITS Goa is very strict and therefore the grooming is better. The faculties are well qualified. There are frequent quizzes, a Mid Semester exam and the final Comprehensive exam each semester. Exams are of moderate to difficult levels and grading is relative.
There are internship opportunities for students available. They are called Practice School (PS) 1 & 2. Students generally get a PPO while doing the PS2. The placement offers are very good. Average package is around 20-25 lakh.
Read Full ReviewCourse curriculum is good and relevant to industry. The faculties are all Phd holders from prestigious institues all around the world and have good teaching experince. There are two major exams , midsems and comprehensive examinations with two quizzes as well. There may be some surprise components but it depends. The difficulty does not matter as such because the grading is done relatively.
The placement cell in the college is pretty active and works for the students to get them placed in best companies in the world. The strong netowrk of alumina also comes into play as they are placed in some of the big names of the world. The official data regarding the placements has not been disclosed to first year students yet.
Read Full ReviewThe CSE course is the most sought after course and provides the best opportunities The faculty teach properly and we even have tutorials classes scheduled where problem solving of the topics taught happens The exams have a very high difficulty level and for many courses the average score is single digits But due to relative grading this does not affect our CGPA very much.
Sorry not much about idea placements, I'm a first year But as far as I know the current placements are based on the CGPA system. Companies such as Google, Amazon come for on-campus placement a d take interviews. This year approximately 93-96% students who sit for placements recieve job offers
Read Full ReviewThe first year courses are basic courses 1 each from all the departments for overall development the maths physics chemistry biology courses are 12yh grade level with few new topics discussed. There are many exams with 1 evalative every month as there is relative grading the perceived difficulty is high. I chose my economics course because from it I can choose another bacholar degree like cs from I can venture into finance and tech at the same time which is very unique. The faculty to students ratio is 1:20 we have a defected teacher for each subject for every 30 students for each subject other than the main lecturer .The best faculties have been Suresh Kumar and Suman Kundu their online lectures have been very useful and informative. There are many exams we have 7 courses each having 2 quizes 1 mid sem and 1 comprehensive exam. The faculty are all highly qualified with atleast a PhD in premiere colleges like iit or bits and even proffessers from foreign universities come teach here.
The placements are very good because we have two compulsory internships called practice school to make us industry ready after the second year summer for 2 months and one semester in the 4th or 5th year placements start since 7th semester itself were most get offers in PPO thright the internships. 248 companies visited along with 631 students placed the average is 2083000 and median is 1650000. 76 percent of students got placed highest was 80lpa. I plan to get a job.
Read Full ReviewI chose this course as this is the course I was getting based on my BITSAT marks. All faculty's are well qualified and have done their masters from reputed institutions. Each sem we have 2 major exams, mid semester and end semester exams. They are well crafted.
