Ques. What is the placement experience at BITS Goa?

Ans. According to students and alumni, CS and IS students receive strong job profiles and packages at BITS Goa. Companies such as Google, Adobe and Facebook are described as high-profile recruiters that do not visit the campus, though Google and Facebook recruit only a small number of exceptionally strong candidates in any case.

Published averages generally refer to CTC, or cost to company, rather than the salary received in hand. Therefore, a CTC of 23.5 LPA should not automatically seem much better than a CTC of 18.5 LPA. The company offering the lower CTC may provide better earnings over time.

The experience differs for other branches. Because fewer core companies recruit on campus, many students accept IT roles even when that is not their first choice. Core-sector employers also tend to offer much lower packages than IT companies.

The mechanical engineering average remains good because higher-paying IT and other non-core companies also recruit these students, as they do from other core branches. Low core-sector packages lead many mechanical students to lose interest in the subject or move towards non-core careers.

Students who develop a strong interest in mechanical engineering may later choose a master's degree. Their path through college can then be quite different from that of students mainly preparing for placements, so the choice should be made carefully.
