The candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination, which are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design / Interior Design or equivalent (4 year program after 10+2)
• Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or the equivalent of a 4-year program after 10+2)
• BFA (4-year professional program after 10+2)
• Professional experience Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2-year program after 10+2+3)

The qualifying exam is the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). The candidate will be shortlisted based on the CEED score.

The program offers two types of seats:

• M Des (sponsored) seats are fully MHRD funded. A valid CEED score is required for admission is required for shortlisting for the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and personal interview conducted by the Department of Design, IITH.
• M Des (self-sponsored) seats are self-funded with no scholarship in this category. Though CEED qualification is not mandatory for this category, an online screening test determines the shortlisting for the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and personal interview.

• The Industry/Organization will have to sponsor the tuition fee for the candidate. Only submission of NOC will not be adequate for consideration under this category.
