Aspirants seeking admission to a 3-year Full-time Ph.D program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute:

Academic Requirement:

MoE/Institute Fellowship: This is a full-time program; candidates should not be employed in any organization. UGC-JRF and other fellowships from outside IIT Hyderabad: This is a full-time program; candidates should not be employed in any organization. External: This category is for working professionals.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

MoE/Institute Fellowship:-

55% marks or equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree in the subject or allied areas. To obtain MoE/Institute fellowship, a candidate must have qualified the UGC-NET or GATE or an equivalent qualifying examination. Shortlisted candidates must pass a written test and/or interview conducted by the Department of Liberal Arts, IITH. Candidates must also provide evidence of passing the UGC-NET/equivalent qualifying examination. Failure to provide final proof of the qualifying degree (Master's degree, etc.) at the time of registration at IIT Hyderabad will lead to the cancellation of the applicant’s admission.

UGC-JRF or Comparable Fellowship:-

UGC-JRF or Comparable Fellowship: 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree in the subject or allied areas. Shortlisted candidates must pass a written test and/or interview conducted by the Department of Liberal Arts. Candidates must also provide documentary evidence of qualifying for UGC-JRF/equivalent fellowship. Failure to provide final proof of the qualifying degree (Master's degree, etc.) at the time of registration at IIT Hyderabad will lead to the cancellation of the applicant’s admission.

External:-

55% marks or equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree in the subject or allied areas. Shortlisted candidates must pass a written test and/or interview conducted by the Department of Liberal Arts. Those employed (full-time/part-time) in any organization should produce a no-objection certificate from their employer to be eligible to write the written test and/or appear for the interview. Candidates should have a minimum work experience of two years following the Master's degree. Failure to provide final proof of the qualifying degree (MA, MSc, etc.) at the time of registration at IIT Hyderabad will lead to the cancellation of the applicant’s admission.

• Mess Expenses (Dining Charges) are @Rs. 128.50/- per day for 199 days, are subject to change.
• The medical insurance premium amount (per annum) and insurance policy coverage (presently Rs. 200000) are subject to change.
• The Industry/Organization will have to sponsor the tuition fee for the candidate. Only submission of NOC will not be adequate for consideration under this category.
• QIP students’ fee structure is on par with that of Regular students. But they are exempted from paying the “Training & Placement” fee of Rs. 1500/-.
