Pondicherry University Admission Dates

Pondicherry University Courses and Fees

Pondicherry University runs programmes through 10 Schools in Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Management, Law, Education, Library Science, and Performing Arts. Pondicherry University Admission Process

Pondicherry University uses CUET scores for most UG and PG admissions. CUET, or Common University Entrance Test, is conducted by NTA. The university generally does not hold a separate entrance exam for these courses and prepares allotments on the basis of CUET merit.

B.Tech Admission

• Eligibility: Students need 10+2 (Science) with Physics and Mathematics. General category students must have at least 50% aggregate.

Admission to UG Honours courses in Humanities, Sciences, and Commerce is done fully through CUET UG. Students must pass 10+2 from a recognised board with at least 45% aggregate, or 40% for SC/ST students. They also need to clear the CUET subject papers required by the department.

MBA Admission

• Eligibility: Any graduation degree with at least 50% aggregate.
• Entrance: CUET PG in the Management domain paper.
• The MBA options at Pondicherry University include Banking Technology, Data Analytics, FinTech, International Business, Insurance, Tourism Management, and Hospitality Management. The general MBA is the main programme.

MA, MSc, M.Tech, MCA Admission

A valid CUET PG score is needed for all PG courses at Pondicherry University. M.Tech applicants must hold a relevant B.Tech degree with at least 55%. GATE-qualified M.Tech applicants are also considered as per UGC rules. Ph.D. admission is handled through a university-level Research Entrance Test (RET), followed by an interview in the concerned department.

Pondicherry University Placements

Pondicherry University has a central placement cell that manages recruitment across its Schools. In the 2024 placement season, 2,310 students out of 3,366 eligible graduates from UG and PG courses were placed. This gives a placement rate of 69%. More than 100 companies joined the campus drives.

As per NIRF 2025 data, UG graduates, mainly from B.Tech and BSc, received a median package of INR 3.65 LPA. PG graduates recorded a median package of INR 7.5 LPA. MBA students got an average package of INR 7 LPA, with the highest offer touching INR 15 LPA. For B.Tech CSE, the highest package was INR 12 LPA in software development roles.

Recruiters include TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, HCL, Zoho, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, ITC, MakeMyTrip, and the Reserve Bank of India. Many graduates from Social Science and Humanities programmes move into government services, higher studies, and NGO sector work.
