Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU) is located in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. It started as a State University but was later converted into a Central University in the year 2009. The university is approved by PCI, UGC and AICTE. It has been accredited Grade 'A' by NAAC.

HNBGU has three campuses, Birla Chauras Campus (BCC), B. Gopal Reddy (BGR) Campus, Pauri and Swami Ram Teerth (SRT) Campus. The university has 121 colleges and institutions under its affiliations spreading over seven districts of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. 

The University offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, PG Diploma and Research programs across the streams of Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Management, Engineering and Technology. Admission into HNGBU is based on merit or entrance examinations. Students must secure qualifying scores in the respective national-level entrance exams such as CUET, JEE Main, etc.

HNBGU offers several facilities to the students such as a computer centre, university sports board, guest house, hostel, university dispensary, construction & maintenance and a lot more facilities under its umbrella. The university has placement and scholarship facilities too. It offers scholarships to students who are academically sound and financially come from backward classes.

HNBGU Scholarships

The university offers a number of scholarships to students on the basis of academic excellence as well as to needy and deserving students. Some of them are listed below:

  • Merit Scholarship to B.Ed. Students: This scholarship is awarded to the students who ranked top 6 in the B.Ed entrance examination conducted by the university. They are granted a monthly scholarship of INR 200/- each.
  • Shri Kalyaneshwar Temple Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded by Kalyaneshwar Temple Trust, Srinagar to economically backward meritorious students, Students of both UG and PG courses can apply.
  • Smt. Shanti Devi Shaligram Bhatt Scholarship: The scholarship is awarded to a total of 3 students. Two are awarded to those pursuing UG or PG courses, and one is given to a Mass Communication student. Eligible students must secure a minimum of 60% and 50% respectively for the previous examination and must have a family income of not more than INR 60,000 per annum.
  • Aditya Ram Barthwal Scholarship: The scholarship provides INR 300/- per month to meritorious students of first year PG courses who are economically poor.
