Doon University Admission Dates 2027

The 2026-27 admission process at Doon University has ended. For the 2027-28 session, the university is expected to follow a similar calendar, with applications in May 2027, entrance tests from June to July, merit lists in July, and counselling in August 2027. B.Tech CSE admissions are linked to JEE Main, while MBA admissions follow the CAT or MAT route. Other UG and PG courses mainly use the Doon University Entrance Test or merit rules depending on the number of applications.

Doon University Courses and Fees

Doon University runs courses through eight schools: Sciences, Languages and Media, Commerce, Management, Technology, Social Sciences, Design, and Environmental Sciences. Annual fees start at INR 27,000 for some B.Sc social science courses and go up to INR 1,00,000 for B.Tech CSE. The state government sets the fee structure.

SC and ST students from Uttarakhand pay 50% of tuition and other fees in every programme. B.Tech CSE costs INR 1,00,000 per year, which is lower than many private engineering colleges in the NCR-Uttarakhand belt. A separate BBA plus MBA integrated programme of 5 years is also offered, with an annual fee of INR 40,000 to 50,000.

Doon University Admission Process

Doon University admits students through different routes based on the course. Most UG and PG courses use the Doon University Entrance Test, B.Tech CSE uses JEE Main scores, and MBA uses CAT or MAT scores followed by GD and PI.

UG Programmes (BA, B.Sc, BBA, B.Com, B.Des)

For UG courses, admission is normally through the Doon University Entrance Test. If the number of applications for a course is lower than the available seats, the university removes the test requirement and offers admission through qualifying exam marks. Students need at least 50% in 10+2, while SC/ST students from Uttarakhand need 45%.

• Apply: Students must apply online at doonuniversity.ac.in through the Samarth Portal from May to July 2027.
• Seats: 50% seats are for Uttarakhand domicile candidates, and 50% are open to all-India applicants.
• Horizontal reservations: 30% seats are for women, 5% for children of defence martyrs or disabled defence personnel, and 4% for PWD candidates.
• Within Uttarakhand quota: The reservation split is OBC 14%, SC 19%, ST 4%, and EWS 10%.
• No management quota: Seats are filled only through merit in the entrance test or qualifying marks.

B.Tech CSE

B.Tech CSE is admitted through JEE Main score. Doon University makes its own merit list from the JEE Main scorecards submitted by applicants. It does not join JoSAA or CSAB counselling. Applicants must have studied Physics and Mathematics in 10+2 and must have at least 50% aggregate.

MBA

For MBA, applicants need a graduation degree with at least 50% marks. SC/ST applicants from Uttarakhand need 45%. A valid CAT or MAT score is also required. Shortlisted students attend Group Discussion and Personal Interview at the Doon University campus. Final merit is based on the management test score and GD/PI performance. Final-year graduation students can apply provisionally.

PG Programmes (MA, M.Sc, M.Tech, M.Des, M.Lib)

PG admission is based on the Doon University Entrance Test. If applications are fewer than seats, graduation marks may be used instead. Applicants must hold a relevant graduation degree with at least 55% marks, or 50% for reserved category students from Uttarakhand. M.Tech CSE applicants need a B.Tech degree with 60% or a GATE score.

Doon University Placements

Doon University MBA placements for 2024-25 had a 100% placement rate, according to the NIRF 2026 Management report. The median package was INR 5.21 LPA, and 48 MBA graduates were placed. The MBA batch size is small, which helps the placement process give closer attention to each student.

Some confirmed recruiters for the MBA programme are Mercer, Amazon, HCL, Cognizant, EY, Accenture, and Wipro. The university attracts recruiters from the Delhi-NCR and Dehradun region because of its location and alumni links in Uttarakhand.

Placements for UG courses such as BA Hons in Foreign Languages, B.Sc Hons, and B.Com Hons vary by subject. Foreign language students, especially those studying Chinese and Japanese, can find work in translation, interpretation, trade support, and MNC operations in India. The B.Tech CSE course is still new at Doon University, so its placement record is still developing.

Doon University Campus and Infrastructure

Doon University has a 52.35-acre campus near the Shivalik foothills, about 8 km from Dehradun city centre, beside the Rispana River. Students study in a green hill-side environment instead of a dense city area. The campus has separate academic and laboratory facilities for Sciences, Languages and Media, Social Sciences, Commerce, Management, Technology, Design, and Environmental Sciences.

Hostel accommodation costs INR 16,000 per year, split into lodging of INR 12,000 and utilities of INR 4,000. Students from BPL families can get a reduced hostel rate. The campus also has a central library, sports facilities, an auditorium, and Wi-Fi. Students can reach Dehradun through Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun Railway Station, and ISBT.

Doon University vs Graphic Era University vs HNBGU

Students looking at universities in Dehradun and the Garhwal region often compare Doon University with Graphic Era University and Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University. Graphic Era University is a private deemed university in Dehradun, while HNBGU is a Central University with a wider presence across Uttarakhand.

HNBGU is the oldest of the three and has an A+ NAAC grade along with Central University status, which supports standardised funding and national fellowship access. Graphic Era University has the largest campus size and a deeper engineering focus. Doon University suits students who want interdisciplinary UG programmes, foreign language study, design options, or a lower-cost B.Tech programme on a hillside campus. Graphic Era is better suited to students focused mainly on engineering and a wider recruiter base.
