IIM Ranchi Admission Dates 2027

CAT 2026 forms the basis of IIM Ranchi MBA admission for the 2027-29 batch. The examination will be followed by the result, shortlist, interview, and final admission stages. IIM Ranchi uses the Joint Admission Process (JAP) with IIM Raipur, IIM Trichy, and IIM Kashipur. Therefore, one JAP application allows a student to be considered by all four institutes.

The IPM 2027-32 selection schedule is separate from the CAT process. Registration is expected to begin in February 2027, and the entrance examination is tentatively planned for May 2027.

IIM Ranchi Courses and Fees

The academic portfolio at IIM Ranchi contains 7 degree programmes and 2 postgraduate certificates. It covers regular postgraduate management study, an integrated undergraduate and postgraduate course, executive education, and doctoral study. The three MBA streams have the same total fee. The figures below follow the institute’s 2025-cycle fee structure.

For the MBA, the first-year charge is INR 10,60,050, including a one-time institute charge of INR 2,25,050. The second-year fee is INR 10,30,050. IPM students pay INR 7,00,050 in Year 1 and INR 6,55,050 in each of Years 2 and 3. MBA-level charges apply during Years 4 and 5.

IIM Ranchi Admission Process

Merit determines admission to every IIM Ranchi programme. The institute does not provide direct admission or seats through management and NRI quotas. MBA selection considers the CAT result, earlier academic performance, work experience, and a Personal Interview (PI). A Written Ability Test (WAT) is not part of the current process.

MBA, MBA-HR, and MBA-BA

Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in any subject with at least 50% aggregate marks. The minimum is 45% for SC, ST, and PwD applicants. Students completing the final year of their degree may also apply. General-category applicants need an overall CAT cutoff of 95.25 percentile and at least 75 percentile in each section: VARC, DILR, and Quantitative Ability.

• Stage 1: Meet or exceed the CAT cutoff set for the chosen programme.
• Stage 2: Receive a PI shortlist based on the CAT result, academic record, and work-experience profile score.
• Stage 3: Attend a faculty-panel Personal Interview at IIM Ranchi, which usually lasts 20 to 30 minutes.
• Stage 4: Enter the final merit list prepared from the CAT score, PI performance, academic profile, and diversity factors.

The final merit calculation awards 5 bonus marks to female and transgender applicants. The highest work-experience profile score goes to those with 25 to 36 months of full-time employment. Work experience is not compulsory, and fresh graduates are regularly selected for all three MBA streams.

The overall CAT cutoffs by category are 95.25 percentile for General, 89 percentile for EWS, 88.5 percentile for NC-OBC, 75 percentile for SC, 44 percentile for ST, and 30 percentile for PwD applicants.

IPM (Integrated Programme in Management)

IIM Indore conducts IPMAT for admission to the IIM Ranchi IPM. Students who have passed Class 12 or are appearing for it can apply, irrespective of their stream. They must have at least 60% in both Classes 10 and 12. The requirement is 55% for SC, ST, and PwD students. No age limit applies. IPMAT assesses Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. After completing all 5 years, students receive an MBA degree from IIM Ranchi.

EMBA and Ph.D. (Executive)

The Executive MBA is intended for professionals who have completed at least 5 years of full-time work. IIM Ranchi conducts the entrance process for this programme. The fee-based Ph.D. (Executive) allows professionals with substantial industry experience to undertake research. Applicants need a relevant postgraduate qualification and must submit a written research proposal for faculty review.

IIM Ranchi Placements

Every student in the 2025 graduating batch was placed, giving IIM Ranchi a 100% placement rate. Bain and Company offered the highest package of INR 50.39 LPA for a consulting role. The batch average reached INR 19.29 LPA, while the top 25% secured an average of INR 26 LPA. A total of 150 recruiters made 250 offers. These included 19 pre-placement offers with an average value of INR 20.85 LPA.

Consulting accounted for 35% of placements, making it the largest sector. Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance, or BFSI, contributed another 25%. MBA-HR students received an average package of INR 19.02 LPA and a highest package of INR 35.30 LPA. For MBA-BA, the corresponding figures were INR 19.86 LPA and INR 27.94 LPA.

Consulting recruiters included Bain and Company, McKinsey and Company, and Boston Consulting Group. HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and Kotak Mahindra represented BFSI, while ITC, Hindustan Unilever, and Marico recruited for FMCG roles. Tata Steel, JSW Group, and leading HR consultancies were among the employers seeking MBA-HR graduates, giving the HR course a placement profile distinct from that of a general MBA.

IIM Ranchi Rankings

IIM Ranchi appears in both national and international business-school rankings. It is also an AACSB member, reflecting its participation in international accreditation benchmarks.

IIM Ranchi Scholarships

Each year, IIM Ranchi provides merit-cum-means scholarships to 25 students from the MBA, MBA-HR, MBA-BA, and IPM programmes. Applicants must have more than 50% in their latest qualifying examination, and annual family income must not exceed INR 2,50,000. SC, ST, and PwD students receive added consideration during scholarship selection.

IIM Ranchi Campus and Infrastructure

IIM Ranchi has a fully residential campus in Jharkhand’s capital. Its integrated layout brings academic blocks, student hostels, faculty quarters, and recreational spaces together against the natural setting of the Jharkhand plateau.

The institute employs 90+ faculty members in 9 areas: Finance, Marketing, Operations, Human Resources, IT and Systems, Strategic Management, Economics, Organisational Behaviour, and Business Analytics. Academic facilities include a central library with print and digital material, computing laboratories, conference facilities, and a management development centre. IIM Ranchi vs IIM Raipur vs IIM Trichy

IIM Ranchi, IIM Raipur, and IIM Trichy participate in JAP along with IIM Kashipur. A student can submit one application and be considered by all four institutes. Comparing the three institutes can help applicants choose when they receive more than one JAP admission offer.

Among the JAP institutes, IIM Ranchi stands apart through its dedicated MBA-HR course. Students seeking specialist HR careers with employers such as Tata Steel or JSW may therefore prefer it. IIM Trichy has a slightly higher NIRF position and a strong presence in South India. IIM Raipur has broadly comparable indicators and may appeal to students interested in the industrial corridor of Central India. Each of the three institutes awards an IIM-branded MBA with the same level of national recognition.
